Christine's Story
Jim and I retired in 2003. We travel quite a bit - either in our motorhome or cruising. We have a 'base' in South Carolina (winters) and one in New York (summers). Between us there are 6 children and 18 grandchildren who are spread from NYS to NC and a couple of other states. We have had a most fulfilling and interesting life in all we have done - after being in the swimming pool business for over 30 years, we went into the remodeling business when we first moved to SC -guess we didn't have enough to keep us busy with doing just this one. We bought and redid 2 more. Now we are finished with working and just enjoy life, children, grandchildren, and our newest addition Ryan (a Cavalier)
Guess it's time to do an update on the above. I lost my best friend, partner and husband the end of February, 2018. I can't believe how thankful I am we sold the business and were able to travel as much as we did for the better share of 15 years! We've been around to see most of the...Expand for more
grandchildren graduate high school and head off to college - some have graduated from college also!! (I really shouldn't say so as it's certainly 'dating' me)... Have a couple of them married with a child or so of their own....some either engaged or in long term relationships; while others are still insisting they're never going to get serious over anyone(HAHA).
It's been a challenge going through our accumulation in the house - that's not even mentioning trying to get through his workshop or the motorhome. That being said, the motorhome is emptied, but still needs cleaning! Gave quite a bit of the camping stuff to one of our neighbors that just started camping.....now just have to figure out what to do with the rest. The workshop has outfitted 4 of the grandchildren with the basics in a toolbox for each.......AND it doesn't even look like I've touched it!
Now I'm guessing I'll go back to volunteering - something I haven't done much of for the past 3 or so years.
