Chris's Story

Life After graduating from Pendleton Heights in 1993, I went to Wabash College. John Cole was in my fraternity there, and several other Pendleton guys (Bryon Foley, Chad McVey, Lance Conway, and Andy Delp) were a year ahead of me in the fraternity. To no one's surprise, I double majored in poly sci and economics. Then I went to Indiana University--Bloomington where I got my law degree and a masters in public affairs. I was hired out of law school by a group called the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). c. It was fun. Now I work for the Tax Foundation in Washington, D.C. My title is staff attorney, and my work is pretty broad: federal tax issues, state tax issues, international tax issues. I got to file two amicus briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court last year, which was pretty fun (but exhausting work). I got married to Shallen Johnson in 1998. She went to Anderson High School and graduated the same year we did. Shallen went to my aunt's church and she set us up on a blind date...the rest is history! We have one daughter: Savannah Grace Atkins. She was born in 2003, and is such a sweetheart. We are expecting a baby boy in April of 2006.
