Chris's Story

Life Let's see, I went off to CMU immediately after high school, where I met my wife-to-be, Vanessa. I got my BS in Computer Engineering at CMU in '93, then went to grad school at the University of Michigan. Despite meeting some interesting people and having a great advisor, I decided grad school wasn't for me, so I left after finishing my Master's and went to work for Intel in Santa Clara, CA doing chip verification. This was just before the boom, so, I, like many others, did a bit of bouncing around in jobs, going from Intel to Sun in '97, then going to a start-up in '98 after my project at Sun was canned. The start-up lasted until the fall of '99. Apple ended up buying the assets of the company and offered us jobs, and that...Expand for more
's how I ended up at Apple in November, '99, which is where I still am today. Most of the time I've worked on chips, but have recently started writing software for a microcontroller. After much stalling on my part, Vanessa and I finally got married on April 7, 2000. The year before, we had decided to move from the South Bay to San Francisco with a friend of ours. The commute is a pain, but we still live there today, having bought a house in the Parkside district in May of 2001. Vanessa is a graphic designer, illustrator, painter, and marketing genius and has found varying success with a number of companies. Most notably, she was a member of the small start-up team that developed the Storybox Picture Frame marketed by Kodak.
