Chris's Story
July 2021 update.
Below, I posted a picture of me and Karen Ohls (Gilbank) in her Mom's backyard behind Oak Ave. School. Photo taken July 11, 2021. Friends for 53 years, and counting.
Career-wise, I've been working in High-Tech, Supply Chain management, since 1980. Spent 23 years at HP / Agilent, then shorter periods of employment at Google, Amazon, other Silicon Valley firms. Currently managing Materials at a medical device start-up company. Spent the pandemic (15 months) working from home. Really enjoyed the relaxed approach, even while working hard on important projects. So glad to be in the medical products arena as opposed to more "indulgent" consumer products (Certain early Alexa concepts were downright insulting.)
Since 2013, I have been tutoring K-12 academically. French, Spanish, Language Arts, History, Exam Prep, and especially what used to be called in the old days "Western Civilization". I love it, and it keeps me sharp and up to date with the up and coming generations. ...Expand for more
Some kids are in their third year studying with me. I recently added Italian language to my repertoire, and I keep current with it by listening to classical and popular music -- Andrea Boccelli as an example, plus classical arias.
In August 2016, I put my compassion, curiosity and teaching to use and became an ordained reverend in a multi-faith organization. I spent a year assisting in Grief and Deep Trauma work, and am now teaching Reichian Personality Patterns to non-clinical personnel. So happy to be able to serve the larger community. My next adventure is to pursue a Doctorate focusing on the practice of one's own personal perspective of Spirituality, whatever that may be.
I've been with my partner Robin since 1995, We recently celebrated 28 years together. We have a small cat family at the moment, having had two dogs for 14 and 17 years prior to that.
I truly enjoy hearing what folks are up to. Looking forward to more stories on-line, and another excellent reunion in 2023!
