Chris's Story
Life
My wife's name is Mary & my children are Michael, Taylor & Chase.
I have a BS degree from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. I've been a Mfg Engineer with Royal Appliance, Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners, for the past 3 years. Before that, I was a ME with Mr. Coffee for 9 years.
After the 20th class reunion, Michele Petro and I were getting people together for a few mini-reunions before she moved to Las Vegas (you need women at these functions for the men to show up). Mike Theil has now taken on that duty. We meet at The Main Event, a bar on Lakeshore in Euclid. Contact Mike for the next date.
My wife, Mary, is a kindergarten teacher in the Cleveland school system. Dad and I still bowl together. IÂve got 14 700 series & a 300 ring.
IÂm still very active in weightlifting. IÂm President of the Ohio WL Assoc, since 1992, a National Referee, a Board Member of the National Masters Committee, a member of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, and was meet director for two N...Expand for more
ational meets. In 2001, I was inducted into the Ohio Weightlifting Hall of Fame for my past lifting. I still lift in the open division at local and state meets, but Nationally, I lift as a Master. IÂve got 9 National Masters titles, one more and IÂm in the National Masters Hall of Fame. I was third in the 1996 World Masters Meet. I just lifted in the Pan Am Masters in Mississauga, Canada in June 2002 and set three records (they were Âlow hanging fruit, one of the records was mine).
IÂve tried to give something back to the sport, and not just take from it. I was also a strength coach for some national caliber figure skaters for two years, and was a Special Olympics trainer & coach for five years. One of the meets I was meet director for was when Cleveland hosted the National Junior Olympics in 1999. This was for all sports, and we had more athletes in town than an average Winter Olympic Games.
I see a few of you some of the time, but you can never have too many friends.
Chris.
