Chris's Story

Feel free to visit my blog and not worry about paying for or contacting me at my spaces blog christophermmcmillan period spaces period live period com Here is my end of year update for 2007 Chris and I did some travelling this year. Chicago in March was freezing cold, but fun. If you like visiting cities, it certainly is top on our list. I have to tell you a little more about the trip because the whole thing is how I think the world should work. We went because Chris wanted to take me to the Science museum he remembered as a kid. At the same time, a special exhibit was there called BodyWorlds. This is all about human anatomy, siliconized bodies and parts down to minute levels. Gruesome to some, yet an awesome opportunity for those of us who love and work with anatomy and physiology. During the same trip, we got to see a hockey game, Detroit Redwings vs. Chicago Blackhawks. I have a wonderful client who does business with a top guy at the Blackhawks. He offered to get me tickets and did. As an exchange, I gave him a couple of gift certificates for massage therapy. He, in turn, gave them to a local women¿s charity that put the certificates in a silent auction. Everyone of us not only benefitted here, but it provided us with endless joy. Such an exchange is one of the benefits of my self-employment and the type of work I do. There were a couple of more things about the exchange and trip. This is a client whom I look forward to seeing. And, let me tell you about those tickets! We were 6 rows off the ice behind the team bench! Chris could actually see the puck and some of the plays!!! We had a downtown hotel for $99.00 a night, the plane trip was about the same and we used our feet and the subway/buses to travel. Back to our adventures for the year. For Chris¿s 40th birthday, we ended up in the Poconos, PA. There is a delightful little water park there called CamelBeach, set in the mountain. We had fun at an amusement park too, Dorney, and all kinds of outdoor activities. During the year, we also visited several new parts of CT, chasing ancestors. The interred ones don¿t move too fast! Once you get off this awful Rt 95 corridor, there are many remaining colonial towns here in CT. Lots of rolling hills, neat old barns, churches, and town halls. My family history quest was topped off th...Expand for more
is year with several events. First was a visit to the Dixon household in Clayton. Nan is a wonderful cousin as is Bill and he makes delicious chocolate chip cookies. In August, Mom and I went to Athens and Newboyne, Ontario and Alexandria, NY to trace out Layng-Irish heritage. All successful. Meeting Gt Uncle Thad and his partner Robin was a delight too, here in New Haven in June. He had some good stories to put in the manuscript! And of course, Great Grand Aunt Louise who just turned 102 and can tell me about the Maziarz family and her immigration experience. We did get back to Dr. Disney 3 times this year for some excellent therapy. Spent our wedding anniversary once again in our bathing suits, whooping and laughing while flying down our favorite slides called CrushnGusher at Typhoon Lagoon. We also had to go see the Christmas décor and music one more time with Mom. I want to tell you some things about that which is in a separate note. We played Powerball a few times¿ well, somebody has to win! Don¿t know if we¿d simply pack up, see every national Park and several European places, maybe buy uniforms, skates and sticks for half the country¿s young girls hockey teams, or buy a plantation within 20 degrees of the equator and become cacao and coffee farmers!! Mmmmmmmm, coffee and chocolate would be a very happy third career and retirement choice! Christopher has spent the year polishing neuronal synapses, in other words getting smarter in computer technology. He is studying networking which I believe is equivalent to the bodies nervous system, the path in which one parts communicates with another. He is both excelling at and enjoying the process, but get this (something I could not possible imagine myself and probably you all will agree) he gets to attend class in his underwear and sip Coke while sitting in his favorite chair. Class being in Australia!! How about this world of high speed internet, taking College class work from anywhere in the world while comfortable at home! It may lead to us needing to visit Australia. Imagine our disappointment in having to explore a new place! That¿s about it for the year. Please feel free to look at the other note for our Christmas trip description and photos of course! Love, hugs, warm thoughts and blessings to all of you. Kelly and Chris
