Christian's Story

Life Email me at christian dot huls at comcast dot net (spelled out). I was raised in a Catholic family and we attended Mass every Sunday. I went to Catholic grade school, and was taught the theory of evolution. My parents divorced when I was eleven and I began questioning my faith. By the time I was fifteen, I was completely atheist and I lived the way I wanted. In high school, I was in two car accidents that awakened me to the reality that I was not immortal. Every time I saw another serious accident, I was reminded of that. I barely finished high school and I couldn't keep a job for longer than six months. The only thing I seemed to succeed at was weight lifting, which became my passion; especially since it helped with what I lived for - girls. A friend introduced me to meditation from and I forged my own new-age philosophy on life, believing that man would evolve to become God. I believed that enlightenment came from all writings and all religions, and that there was no absolute truth. A few years later, a coworker of mine began challenging me with evidence for the Bible. He gave me an audiotape that presented the scientific problems with evolution. I was skeptical, so I took notes and investigated it. It was all true. My fiancé and I agreed that we were not living as we should and that we should start going to church. We began to attend regularly and learn more about the Bible, but something was still missing. A month after we were married, we drove past a horrific automobile accident in which several teenagers were killed. I had the worst feeling in the pit of my stomach as I looked at their lifeless bodies covered in the street. I couldn't help pondering the fact that my life could end so suddenly and unexpectedly. That could happen to us at the next block. I had the inescapable fear that I wasn't sure where I was going when I died, or if I sincerely believed anything was there. Soon after, s...Expand for more
omeone told me about the book Left Behind, a fictional account of the book of Revelation. While reading, I realized that I was a sinner and I needed to be saved. Jesus was God in human flesh and He died on the cross for my sins, and then rose from the dead. I repented of my sins and invited Jesus into my heart. That was December of 1998. My life was transformed immediately. I had a hunger for God's word, and I read or listened to most of the Bible in a few months. A week after I asked Jesus into my heart, my wife asked me, "Why are you so different lately?" I told her why, and the next day she affirmed that she too had prayed the previous evening. Since then, when I see a terrible accident, I’ve noticed that the fear that I used to have about death is totally gone. Instead I have peace. We were baptized and joined Bellevue Baptist Church, where we are still members. Since then, I realized that God’s plan for my life was in the ministry. I have been attending seminary for a couple years now and hope to one day pastor a church and be a professor. I still have a passion for finding answers to difficult questions that keep people from believing in Jesus or the Bible. If you’d like to contact me, send me an email--God bless!! College I am still in school. I just started college two years ago (yeah I'm a slow starter). I didn't know what I wanted to do until then. I am in seminary school. I have completed the work for my associates and working towards a bachelors. Lord willing, I will get a Ph.D. in about 10 years. Workplace I was an engineer at Security Fire for 9 years, designing sprinkler systems. Two years ago I left to go to seminary school. I started my own computer business last year for some extra money, but my passion is ministry. I am currently serving as an Associate Pastor at Grace Community Church in Bartlett. Some day, I'd like to pastor a small church and be a seminary professor.
