Michelle's Story
Life
This isn't so much a life bio as it is a stream-of-consciousness recap of parts of my life since NHS graduation... OK, here goes...
I was accepted to OU on scholarship, and chose them because they offered me more money than any other school (oh, the siren song of cold hard cash!). My time at OU was more notable for the friends I made (including my future husband) than for anything else I accomplished. With more foresight, I might have taken a year or so off. As it happened, I burned out on school after a couple of years and ran away to Colorado to work at a residential summer camp.
The next ten or so years brought many different careers and homes. I worked as a summer camp counselor, a shipping clerk, a book buyer, an office manager, and a Systems Administrator. I moved frequently during this span, and lived with various roommates and boyfriends (I even lived alone occasionally!). The attack on the World Trade Center caused ripples everywhere, and my company wasn't spared. I was laid off from my SysAdmin position before the end of the year.
I'll skip the details of job-hunting, cashing in retirement funds, and worrying, for your sake and mine, and fast forward to 2003.

great year for many reasons, including: 1) a rekindled friendship with a college friend, Doug Lonsinger; 2) a nifty new job as a Technical Writer for a government-contracted law firm; and 3) I moved into Doug's beautiful home in Erie, Colorado late in the year.
Doug and I got married in May of 2004, and had our daughter, Bethany Diane, in November of 2005. After weighing our options, we decided that I should leave my job to try my hand at being a stay-at-home mom. So far, so good. I've been doing some contract work for my former employer, which keeps me in the business loop (and will, with luck, make it easier to return to later if I want to...).
These days, I spend my time teaching and playing with my daughter, who amazes me every day. When I dream wistfully about the rat-race, I only have to remind myself that in a few short years she'll become the property of the school system.
I suppose that's enough information to give you some idea of what I've been up to since 1988 (without giving you much information about who I really am, or what I enjoy doing --- oops!). I'd love to hear from you about what you've done and are doing - I'll do my best to keep up with you during the kiddo's naps. :)
