Christina's Story

As I write this in August 2013, I am retired (as of 2007) thanks to a wonderful man who I met in 2000 and married in 2004. In the past twelve and a half years we have known each other, we have traveled to all seven continents (including Antarctica) and visited over 60 countries. Romantic man that he is, Bill proposed to me in Paris in 2002. I feel very blessed with my life now since, as almost everyone, I too have had my share of tough times. I have two children. My daughter, Alison, is 31 and works as a researcher on Vanity Fair magazine. My son, Brian, is 37 and a musician with too many activities to list. Both live in Brooklyn, NY while I live in St. Augustine, FL. Neither are married and I have no grandchildren, but perhaps someday. During my career I have worked for McGraw-Hill where I was Assistant Products Editor for Purchasing Week magazine (it was a fun time attending press conferences at places like 21, the Plaza Hotel, the Four Seasons and Tavern on the Green for such products as the first electronic calculator and the first color copier). When the magazine was sold and became a monthly, I became the Presentation Editor (art director). I also worked as assistant to the President for a small Nestle Company (about 60 people) where I wore many hats including that of Personnel Manger and Office Services Manager. I was sad when I heard that Dominican Commercial had closed, but was glad to have the opportunity...Expand for more
to visit the school a couple of years ago. Several years ago I also visited my old grammar school, OLPH, and took a tour of the classrooms. The school yard is now a parking lot and gone too is the black line which separated the boys from the girls at lunch time. By the way, my "then" picture is my first passport photo taken in 1968. I went on a three week trip to Madrid, Rome, Paris and London. The package included all air fare and transfers, hotel, breakfast each day, and a half day tour in each city. The price was $540. My how prices have gone up! DCHS CLASS of 1963 ALUMNI DIRECTORY In April of 2009, a group of DCHS Class of 1963 alumni got together for a reunion at the Milleridge Inn in Long Island. There were 19 of us (and another ten could not make it). Over the years we have added to the list and now have about 80 names. We have a directory listing addresses, emails, phone and cell numbers and data sheets telling a bit about what everyone has been doing. We have get togethers every year or so (this year we are planning our 50th for Sunday, November 3, 2013). A newsletter is sent out via email two times a year. If you are interested in joining our group, please email me and be sure and include your personal email address as there are certain things I cannot send you through the classmates website such as the directory, newsletters and address of a website where you can see photos taken at the April reunion.
