Christine's Story

I am currently living back in Humboldt County after being in Washington state for 12 years. I live in Eureka and moved back to the area to be near my youngest 3 children and my newest grandchild! I have a total of 8 children and 5 grandchildren. I have had 5 of my own and just lost my oldest this last summer 2015 at 32 my son Cameron, I have 3 more boys and 1 girl, I have a boyfriend of 9 years whom I've known for 17 and his 2 children started calling me Mom immediately when we decided to become a couple, right before we got together my second son had become friends with a young man who shared the same name as him and was the same age and the next month when my boyfriend came up he began getting close with us and calling us Mom and Dad so we figured what's one more so we just kinda adopted him and so we are a big wonderful blended family who unfortunately not only lost Cameron but my daughter's firstborn (just like my firstborn) also was lost she actually lost her first at a very young age 9 month's old our sweet Jessalyn my Jessica's baby girl when she was just 16 . She now has my beautiful granddaughter Aliana who is now 1 year old I got here 1 month after she was born and she's the light of my life! I ...Expand for more
don't live near the other grandchildren and have only gotten to meet 1 of the other 3 I had only seen Jessalyn 2 times since I lived in Washington. That's a big part of the reason I moved back home you just never know how long you have so I want to enjoy my family while I can! I have been disabled for 14 years now and at times was using a cane or a walker but am doing a little better now and since losing my son have really been thinking about and praying about what I want to do in my life to try and help others! I decided to get involved with a local group called AHHA who are all about helping the homeless and I am also hoping to become a volunteer at another place this week after an interview, at Church today I was asked to come to a meeting to help with the senior village project for our area and I am also just getting started on a new group where I will learn how to become a speaker and tell my life story they go around to different places and speak and I was told that I would be a great speaker so I am very excited to be getting involved in the community and helping others . My strong faith has gotten me through so far through these difficult times and I will continue to rely upon God to see me through!
