Christine's Story

I live in the beautiful town of Celebration, Florida - have been here since the town started back in 1997. I have a beautiful 25-year-old daughter, who is amazingly talented and is in the entertainment field. I live with Steven, my love, as well as Rudy the Cat & Kally the Dog. We have a peaceful and loving life, travel every chance we get, both love our jobs and love coming home at the end of the day even more! I'm just 5 classes/26 credits away from completing my B.A. in Organizational Behavior, which is a Psych HR Degree - I never finished college 30 years ago....but it's never too late - I should be graduating next May!! For many years, I owned a medical transcription business which really boomed when voice files became available over the Internet, so my little solo typing business transformed into me having people all over the country working for me, which enabled me to bid for accounts anywhere and everywhere. About 6-7 years ago I sold all of my accounts and decided to slow down a bit and get a 9-5 (well, 10-4 lololol... job)... so now I'm the practice manager for a pulmonary and critical care group at Florida Hospital in Celebration, which I love going to every day! The transcription business was great, but I never had down time; I was on call 24/7 for STAT/urgent reports that were needed and vacations were hard to find time for. These days, I truly work to live - not the other way around! Everyone who knows me teases that I have a bag packed all the time, on standby, because I travel so much. Because my daughter works on a cruise ship, I can cruise for just pennies... and we definitely take advantage of that! I've been all over the world, having train-trecked all through Europe, doing a rail pass with my daughter over the summers between her college semesters, as well as taking in Italy for extended periods... I swear, one day I will move to Venice! And of course, my family being from Greece, has afforded me the luxury of annual trips there. These days we are trying to visit little undiscovered places in Florida, right in our own backyard... so usually on Fridays at 5 or so, we're "outta here!!!!" and on the road or in the air!!! I never realized how little I knew about this state until now! After high school, I began at Brooklyn College, but ended up leaving to get married and start a family. I moved to Florida in 1989, then to Boston for a few years where my husband (ex) went to law school. We then moved back to Florida in 1997 and moved to this awesome Town of Celebration, where I've been ever since. Two years ago, I met Steven, after having been divorced for 5 years... both having been married before, we knew what...Expand for more
we were looking for (and NOT looking for) in a partner, and we are now having the best of times, loving each and every day, and are both very thankful that the sun/moon/stars were all aligned the day we met and that we found each other. It's rare to meet someone who thinks just like you think, and wants the same out of life. What do we know when we are so young?!?! Practically nothing!! So, we feel we've been "practicing" our whole lives to finally get to this point of finding our true love - the one we'll grow old with. We both have grown kids (my 25 y.o. daughter and Steven's 16 y.o. son and 19 y.o. daughter who live with their mother)... and we enjoy them immensely! My daughter is home between her Carnival contracts, and his kids are about an hour away, so they visit here about once a month. Life is good.... I would love to catch up with anyone who I knew back in high school or junior high school (Susan E. Wagner HS in 1978, and I.S. 51 in 1974). The older I get, the more I realize we need to love our past because it's what made us who we are today. My memories are good ones and I love to reminisce about them. I started scanning all my old photos a few months ago and am making a digital photo album (a VERY LARGE one!!)... so, as I began this huge task of scanning everything (there are so, so many because there are all of my own photos, as well as my parents' photos since they've passed away, and of course my parents also had their parents' photos... so you can imagine!) If anyone has a great (or even good at this point..lol) way to organize a digital library, I am open to suggestions! For now, I'm just scanning about an hour or so every chance I get, but it's almost insurmountable, not to mention the havock that those old album sticky pages have done to the poor old photos! So peeling them off or cutting around the sticky pages takes long. Anyhow.... as I sit and scan, I find myself detained because almost every photo brings back good memories and I start talking to Steven about that particular photo. Many of you, my fellow classmates are in those great photos and I would love to share them if anyone is interested. I posted my I.S. 51 yearbook photos (all the 8th grade graduating classes) on facebook last week and after I got done tagging them with names, it caused a ripple effect and people are connecting with others every day... there were over 200 connections made from that; it still amazes me! So, if you were in I.S. 51 with me, find me on Facebook and take a peek! So, on Facebook - search for me at Christine Kloufetos Ackley, and also on Myspace - just search for ckackley! Look me up and say hi!!! Till then, cheers! Christine
