Christine's Story
Life
I have been teaching biology at the University of Scranton since 1979. I have a nine year old daughter adopted from China. I enjoy knitting, quilting, sewing, gardening, singing, playing the French horn and piano, and reading, but probably spend most of my spare time being a chauffeur. Since leaving Hammond, I have visited Canada, England, Wales, Ireland, and China (twice).
College
I spent 4 years as a commuting student at Cal State Fresno, and graduated with a BA in Microbiology and a minor in Chemistry. I did my PhD ...Expand for more
in Immunology at the Oak Ridge Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and my post-doc at the Sloan Kettering Institute for Cancer Research.
Workplace
I did postdoctoral research at the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research in Rye, NY. Currently I am in my 27th year teaching biology at the University of Scranton in PA. I teach primarily genetics (separate courses for biology majors and for non-science majors) and microbiology (for nursing majors). I also serve as a part-time advisor in our freshman advising center.
