Christine's Story
Life
First of all, my maiden name was Miller.
I've been married for 22 years. Graduated from PSU with a B.S. in Psychology. Worked in the HR field for a few years, then had a son. He's 13 now. I'm currently working for Macy's doing display work, price changing, etc. Before that, I was working for Meier and Frank in Jewelery which I absolutely loved because I'm an extrovert/people person. When Macy's took over, they reorganized, so I quit selling and went into the prep and background of sales. I've lived in a 1910 house for 17 years in Portland. Love it.
School
I didn't date in high school. Although, I would have LOVED to. I hung around friends who were of class of 1978. My froemds from my grade school (Glenfair) were Laura Deitz, LuAnn Perry, Betsy Blank, Susan Wildebour, plus my best friend, Lisa Mumford who went to Glenfair, but a year older. She stayed my best friend all throughout grade, middle, and high school. We formed a "Christian girls" group in high school where we met for bible studies and the like. We tried to stay away from "the hoods" as they were called back then. lol I LOVED choir. I was a choir member all throughout high school. Laura was in choir with me. Susan Tate (don't know her married name at the moment), Sue Oaks, Lisa Mumford, Sherry Rasmussen (father is Don of who started Rasmussen Motors here in Portland), Will Fox I still have kept on and off touch with because he was the youth pastor at the church I currently go to. I was VERY conservative in school, but now I couldn't be far from it. I still hold some of the same religous beliefs, but my political leanings are VERY liberal. I didn't drink or experiment with drugs until I moved out at 18. I find it SO interesting looking up people that you wonder "what happened" to them. This is a cool site for that. The teacher I had a crush on at Reynolds was Rod Phillips. I suppose each of you remember the sad outcome of Mr. Regier from Col. View who committed suicide a few years back due to being involve...Expand for more
d in child pornography with contacts in Thailand and Japan. No wonder he was SO ENTHRALLED with Japan and Thailand and showing us all of those boring slides. Whoever had him in 8th grade remembers I"M SURE! He was weird. Definitely. I remember him quieting down the class by slamming his yardstick on the table and said "now that I have your attn.". Everybody was shaking in their seats. Ha. My best year was my sophomore year because I avoided science and math. I had a SUPER easy year. I HATED high school except for choir and my friends. When my best friends either graduated from class of 1978 or else went to Columbia, I was really depressed and only took 3 classes in my senior year and worked the rest of the day at the "Cracker Box Deli" on NE 28th and Glisan. It closed not too long ago. Couldn't WAIT to move to CA where everyone in my family except my mom lived. Came back up here after a bad relationship and went to college at PSU after marrying. It was cool seeing everyone that came to the 20th reunion. However, it was also sad to hear of "divorces", "deaths", etc. I went to the same church as Donna Hermantz after she marred Steve and knew her husband Steve Long. Donna went to Easthill, then changed and attended Metro Church of Christ where her husband's family attended. It wasn't until Steve started dating Donna (1982) that I saw her after high school. She died of a mysterious illness at SUCH a young age. She was only in her 30's and had 3 children. VERY VERY sad. Her and Steve "won their wedding expenses off of "AM Northwest" back in the early 1980's, won a cruise, and it was all on film. I missed it on TV, but some of you may have seen it. It was a contest they entered. I was SO jealous I remember. Ha. I used to teach Sunday School to Steve Long's neice and nephew in 1982. I haven't been back to that church since then, so I have no idea whether Steve has remarried or not. I'm sure Donna's and his children are grown now. I've written ENOUGH! Take care everyone.
