Christine's Story
Spring of 1976 went to visit my sister who was in the Army at Fort Devens MA. There I met the love of my life, well at least for almost 8 years anyway Ted Moore from Memphis TN. It was love at first sight. Married 12/18/76 We went to Augsburg Germany for a year working for the audio photo club moved to Memphis TN for 3 yrs where I worked at a Bank and started my Government career with GSA. I got pregnant twice when I was 21 but lost both pregnancies and never believed I could ever have a baby. He was called to be a Pentecostal Holiness minister so I agreed to move to Franklin Springs GA to help him go thru bible school. That was a very stressful life for me since I was mostly the only one working for SSA and Corps of Engineers. We were married almost 8 yrs when the last 1 to 1 1/2 yrs we became distant and removed from each other. Still dont really know went wrong I started staying out with the store people and we ended up divorced July 1984. I really believed Ted would come get me and tell me how much he needed and still loved me and we would work it out, but it never happened that way. He went to the Carolinas and got married. I was quite distraught and not thinking straight when I met my sons father. At the time I did not know what on the rebound was well I sure found out fast and that he was abusive. I worked for the Forest Service where I became pregnant in the Spring of 1985. Never did I believe I would go full term I decided with the encouragement of my co workers to go back to Buffalo, N Y and start over again. Got a job pregnant and showing at the VA Hospital for 3 yrs and then transferred to the downtown VA Regional Office which distributes disability compensation, pension and education. I worked until Friday and Daniel Carter was born 2/2/86 on Sunday. Had him naturally no and in almost 2 weeks from birth he was back at Childrens Hospital with RSV virus and pneumonia with no hope in sight. Fortunately, a new remedy that was sprayed into his oxygen got rid of the pneumonia and he was back home within a week or two. and recovering from his abuse for 3 1/2 years. The girls at my office decided I did not need to be alone so they found a guy who was a work study veteran and told him I was interested in him when I was not interested in anyone at all. Anyway this guy brought me flowers so I could not say no to a date. Well we kept seeing each other and lived together for 5 years and married from 1994 to the day he died 7/3/08. At the time I guess my son needed a father figure but kept refusing to marry him cause I'd been married before. He was relentless so I told him if he buys me a house I would marry him and do you believe it he did. So in keeping my word I married him in 1994. It was not the marriage storybooks are made of but I was determined to see it thru to the end this time no matter what. He was very ill for 10-12 yrs mostly the last 10 when the downward spiral started. The last year to two years he spent in and out of the VA hospital and later nursing facility in Batavia NY VA hospital. Now I started meeting singles on the internet and wow what a strange world we live in. Not very successful yet but eventually I will get the hang of it. Just wanted to meet someone I can do things with wander what the Lord has in mind for me this time!!! I just had my 32 yr anniversary working for the government 10/16/10 and had no one to celebrate or share that with. Well I am happy with my life and would not change a thing because I would not be who I am today if I did not go through what I have already. I will end here and update as life's journey takes me forward to find old friends and make new ones. "Started playing tennis again I did at Kensington but I think I am wiser and better than back then, do yoga and personal training cycling. No more sitting and being a couch tater. I am truly blessed and each day & am thankful to be alive. Well 2011 is here and still have not met an activity partner or anything else for that matter. I still work out at gym and will have to update my pic since I am much smaller now. Very fit and healthy is the main thing of course. Still thankful for and looking forward to what and who is just around life's corner to meet me. Christine
