Christine's Story
Life
During my early college years I developed an interest in Eastern philosophy and travel to developing nations. My first adventure was a summer spent in Northern India. I was definately a flower child and a seeker and a lover of music and in many ways still am. I went on to do research in Belgium and the Netherlands on the Beguines -a women's society of love mystics.
I have had two careers - one in travel where I officed in San Francisco which gave me the opportunity to travel throughout the world for a decade and the other in higher education at the University of Oklahoma, where I work as a writer and editor and public relations specialist. I have such wonderful memories of Turlock and my grandparents, Sam and Lena Hodnett who raised a family of 12 in a landscape of ...Expand for more
fruit trees, vegetable gardens and flowers. I still love nature and gardening and trace it to my loving Grandpa Sam. I have a home near the university where I have turned what was lawn into a collection of gardens. I love global films and think it is one of the most powerful forms of narrative story that can work wonders for cross-cultural understanding. I roadtrip to New Mexico often where I love the culture and the landscape.
I have returned to graduate school so that I can also teach as I will retire from my staff position. I plan on teaching internationally so that I can expand my boundaries and keep the great adventure going.
I married in my twenties to a talented and much loved Oklahoma musician and artisan and have a son and daughter, my husband died in 2004.
