Christopher's Story
After giving my heart and life to Jesus Christ during my senior year at Hialeah High, my former life changed dramatically. After graduating, I proceeded to go to college at Miami Christian University to prepare for the ministry. There I met my now ex-wife, Marjorie Ann, to whom I was married after my junior year. We lived in Miami together, along w/our seven children, from 1975-1990. Our 2nd son, Micah Joel, died in 1979, at only 13 months, due to multiple heart defects and complications. While in Miami, I taught in a Bible College, and then started a church in 1977, which I pastored for 12 years. Our children are: Shiloh James(34); Mishael Seth(30); Charissa Grace(29); Esther Joy(27); Malachi Joel(25); Isaac Christopher(21). While there, I also travelled numerous times to Nigeria, where I preached and taught extensively in various regions, and trained other pastors for ministry.
In 1990, we moved to Indianapolis, where I now reside. I've had the privilege of ministering in many churches in the area, as well as in many other parts of the country. Additionally, I've been many times to the Marshall Islands, in the Pacific Rim, to teach and train leaders. In 1991, I began doing pastoral counseling in Indianapolis, which sprang up into full-time work w/the sexually abused, primarily, while also doing personal and marital counseling. All of that has been tremendously fulfilling. Sadly, in the midst of all of that, my own marriage ended in 2001. It left me heart-broken and devastated because I had never imagined that could happen to us. But to ...Expand for more
my great surprise, I did remarry in 2006. My wife now, whose name is Debra, has been a wonderful friend to me for many years. She actually was at one time a client of mine, and over the years we became friends. She was living in San Diego at the time of my divorce, and was heart-broken for both Marjorie and myself. After returning to Indy in 2004, I saw her occasionally in my office for counseling, and never had a thought about taking her out until 2005! She is my beloved, and she is my friend. She is delightful, and she is one of the funniest people I've ever known. So our home is filled daily w/a lot of laughter. She has two kids of her own: Jessica(29) and Andrew(27). Between us, we have 12 grandchildren, w/another on the way in March 2011. I've cut back my counseling and traveling since 2006, to devote more of my time to writing Christian books. I've had 3 works published, and have completed 5 others, which are yet unpublished----w/many more yet inside me. So between my writing, my wife, my kids and grandchildren, my counseling, teaching and travels, I stay very busy. My life belongs to the Lord Jesus, and I am trying by His grace to live for His Glory. Because His Kingdom is ever-expanding and everlasting, I have no intention or desire to ever truly retire. I am eagerly awaiting His glorious return to our planet!
