Christopher's Story
Life
I would have to say that to some people in high school, I must have seemed like a crazy nut with a tough shell :) I was. I was introverted to most, and I still am to a certain extent. However, I have learned since then that you get along with people a LOT easier when you are happy with yourself, have a logical outlook on life, and not least, have patience. I was hyper-critical of myself and others, and that just didn't earn me many friends.
After Mac, I came to Austin where I got my BS in Computer Science at UT. That was a trying time, because I realized just how unwise I was in high school. I wasn't really ready for college, so it kicked my butt for the first couple of years. I finally got ...Expand for more
in gear, but not well enough to land a fantastic job in town.
So I moved to Los Alamos, NM (or as I call it, "Lost Almost") for two years, where I worked on a project to facilitate an emergenecy management software system for the Army. It's beautiful country up there. However, a town full of male scientists with PhD's didn't really appeal to my personal tastes, so I left the "Land of Entrapment" to come back to Austin.
I am now a contractor for IBM, mostly working on web projects and internal tools. I work almost exclusively in Perl, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I have a loving girlfriend (Stephanie) who has a son (Noah), and he's as cute as the Dickens. He makes me eager to be a father.
