Christy's Story
Life
After graduating, I went to Ottumwa, Ia and took a 2 year course on Bible education. In June of 1979 Phil Spence and I married. August of 1980 we had our first son Doyle, and 1982 we had our other son, Duane. We moved to the farm in Lacona in 1984, where we still live. Phil has worked for Hy Vee since we married. I worked for the South Central Coop in Lacona at the C-store from 1993-1996, then was transferred to the C-Store in Lucas to manage it. I stayed there until January of 2005. When I quit working to help take care of my parentsand help out on our farm. In the summer of 2005, we built them a home about 10 feet off our back step. My Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2003, and her and my Dad began to need some help. He is semi-retired from the ministry. Ottumwa for Computer Technology and he is working for a company in Loveland as their Computer Tech Administrator. Jessika went to ISU for 2 years for elementary education. She is planning on finishing her degree when they move back to Iowa sometime in the near future. Duane went to college in Missouri for Youth Ministry and then moved to Minnesota and lead the youth group in Owatonna for 3 years, and worked for a company building cabinets, mantles, desks etc. He now is living in Unionville Missouri and working for a farmer. He is planning to get married in the summer of 2007 to Lindsey Crist of Winnegan, Missouri. She is going to school for financial planning. Our farm is 160 acres and we run a cow/calf operation on 1/2 of the acres and have a neighbor put up our hay on the other 1/2.
In 2008, our son Doyle and his wife Jess, gave us our first grandchild, a little boy. Tucker Allen.
