Christy's Story
Life
Hey, Kennedale, I went right into school at the University of North Texas as a commuter for 2 years. I now live here in Denton. I still visit Kennedale occasionally. I still play music for those of you who knew I did. I'm recording an EP right now. I've been going to shows in Deep Ellum and other clubs like Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio and the Ridglea at least once a week since I graduated. I see just about every Chomsky, Paperchase, and Filthy Reds show I can. So basically I'm trying to stay young. I'm still the same I think except I'm more experience performing in rock bands and writing songs, I read more, and I do more art.. now with casting and carving and stuff. I like Dinosaurs and I'm a member of the Dallas Paelontological Society and the Fossil Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I. - heh) and went on a Wooley Mammoth dig near Waco every week this past summer and plan on working on it some more this summer but the rain has been holding us up. Oh, I still visit Heather King every now and then. Lets see... my sister is going to be a freshman here at UNT with me this year. She's six years younger than me so that shows how long I've been piddling in school... heh heh. Oh, I miss Mr. Easley and Mr. Lenzmeier.
School
My years at Kennedale High School are my favorite so far. It wasn't until I met other college kids that I found out how special our school was. Everyone knew everyone and practically grew up together. I miss having the same group in every home room for years. I miss the teachers who put up with the nuts in administration to get us stuff with no money (Mr. Easley and Mr. Lenzmeier). I mostly miss the tree. I don't think many Tree People are on Classmates.com. Aside from the fact I never see these...Expand for more
people anymore I really miss the comfort of sitting outside under those trees every morning, break, and lunch. I sometimes stop by there and sit for a while. I've heard of what happened to some people but I doubt they'll come to a reunion. I guess my friends were the loners. But.. I miss everyone.
College
I'm double majoring in Sculpture and Psychology. That's why I've been here so long. I usually took 12 hours a sememster. I'm taking 17 this sememster to get done a little faster. In sculpture I've worked in mixed media, wood, and clay but metal casting is my favorite. I want to work big someday but it'll take time. I am also focusing on Rehabilitation for Drug and Alcohol Treatment and Addiction. I'm doing mostly psychology but am also taking Social Work type classes. Needless to say I'm not in it for the money. I was also secretary of the UNT Chess Club. We sometimes went on tournements. We also volunteered for a local elementary school's chess club. I need to quit piddling and graduate though. Now my sister's about to start going here with me and she's six years younger than me.
Workplace
I work for the Coliseum or "Super Pit" office here at UNT. I work in the office during the day and ticket take or sell tickets for concerts and other events. I'm also now the House Manager for different events at the Coliseum and UNT's Main Auditorium. I've also sold tickets and done Will Call for the football games the past few years. Now I've also started a business, PickleMint. It's in the Downtown Minimall on the square in downtown Denton (and upstairs next to Come Oddities). I sell 'vintage clothes, retro houseware, and more.' It's doing pretty well. I hope to one day get my own building for PickleMint.
