Chuck's Story
Life
Native Austinite. 2 years at Austin High, then first Seniors at Reagan and graduated Reagan HS. Spent 4 years in the Navy, 2 on aircraft carrier off Vietnam. Returned to Austin. Went to University of Texas at Austin-graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio-TV-Film. Love UT Football. Went to work for the Texas Employment Commission and worked there for 26 years and then retired. Learned to surf (the ocean) after retiring. Travel to Costa Rica and Southern California to surf. Love California, the ocean, and surfing. Although a native Austinite and living here all my life, I love Southern California, the coastal cities around San Diego, and am looking to move there soon to enjoy the fantastic we...Expand for more

Military
Joined the Navy to see the world since I was born and raised in Austin, lived there all the way through High School, and wanted to have an adventure. As luck would have it, I got sent back to Texas for two years (Kingsville) right out of Boot Camp - some luck!!! But then, for the 2nd two years, I got assigned to an Aircraft Carrier, the USS Ranger CVA-61, home port of San Francisco. The ship went on 9 month long cruises to Vietnam - yuuuk! But at least I did finally get to see the world on Liberty ports - Hawaii, the Phillipines, Hong Kong, and Japan.
