Chuck's Story
I left Bowie for Miami,Florida in 1972 where I worked in Construction held a Master's License in plumbing, and became a Real Estate Broker. I left Miami in 1984 for the ever expanding Orlando working in Construction Supervision and Commercial Real Estate. In 1988, the passion for building paved the way to an opportunity to Supervise Construction and Maintenance for Pan Am World Services on an Army Base located on Kwajalein Island, of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Micronesia was like being close to heaven for a Scuba Diver;unspoiled.
After 3 years, a son and a divorce(Just Not an Island Girl) I went to Andros Island in the Bahamas as Construction Manager on the Naval Base located at Fresh Creek, another area that was pristine nature and great diving and exploring. I returned to the states in 1997 and continued a career in Construction Management as Project Manager for several International firms with offices in Tampa.
I remarried in 2003 to a wonderful woman,an optimist and lover of life,Cynhtia Schwippert of Buffalo ,NY.
In April of 2008 when I had enough of the corporate world, we bought Sweeties Ice Cream Parlor located in the tourist district known as The Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, Florida which is on the west coast next to Tampa.We added a second business;"The Spicemans Kitchen", a gourmet food store in January of 2010,also in Tarpon Springs,Fl.
My son, Travis is twenty-one now, and runs the Ice Cream Store quite well, while Cindy and I concentrate on Spicemans Kitchen.
Life is good, but it would be better if I could sail our 27 ft. Catamaran more often!!
