Chuck's Story

Life I left the US about a year after I saw most of you for the last time, and still go back to visit our home town about once a year. Things have changed, and there are few things and even fewer people that I recognize there anymore : ( I have to admit, I think about a good many of you folks on a regular basis and wonder where you may have gone. As for me, after bouncing around for a bit, I was fortunate enough to finally get the chance to attend College, then later University in Montreal, and ultimately became a Communications Specialist. From working on 150 foot high broadcast transmitters in the Arctic winter to conducting analysis of historically relevant audio recordings in British Columbia, I am blessed to be able to DO what I do for a living. Today, I own an audio post-production facility where we develop educational/lingusitic materials aimed at preserving Indigenous languages. I go home each night to 3 great kids and the woman whom I roamed the earth looking for, for far too many years. If you're ever curious, go to precisionaudiolab dottcomm and you just may find me. These days, I live back in the original community of my mother's family, Kahnawake Mohawk Territory in Canada and everyday count myself as the luckiest man alive. That skinny, long haired-big mouthed kid with the bad posture and poor outlook on life found his way home, and is doing OK. In all seriousness, I am glad that I had the chance to grow up with you and have many of you as friends through those hard fought years, you are all in my thoughts regularly. Some days I wonder what ever became of my buddies, Rob Dale and Tim Rowell, I spent years looking for them and came up short every time. If you're out there guys, you can easily find me with a quick web search. For those whom I may have been less than kind to in those years, I offer my apologies. Often as young people we make poor decisions based on our limited understanding of the world, and there are things ...Expand for more
said and done that I would probably change, if I could. Truly, there will never be another Freeport, Maine in the year of 1990, and I am grateful to have been a part of it all. Your pal, Chuck School While I was never exactly what you'd have called a "big fan" of education when I was attending FHS, the knowledge passed down by some of the teaching staff has been invaluable in my travels through life. Although I was a reluctant student, I want to thank Mr. Wilhelm for forcing me to take Drama ater school as an alternative to being indefinitely suspended. I have nothing but respect for Beth Patterson, and the skills she imparted on me in being able to see the world through other's eyes. It is a lesson that has served me well, for that I owe her a debt of gratitude. For Donna Romanoff-Wilhelm (sp?), thanks for taking the time to speak in a language that even the most rough-hewn of us could even unerstand, you were key in bridging the gap between education and the real world for a handful of us. You were able to see through our bone-headed antics and put things into terms that we could understand. Sally Knight; there is not enough space available here for me to articulate the debt of gratitude that I owe to you. Thank you for forcing us to read the classics and getting us to understand the strength of the written word vs. that of the middle finger. Your patience and refusal to give up, paid off in many ways. Finally, Miss. Emmerson, thank you for failing me in Algebra. It was my fear of you alone that forced me to actually pass the 2nd time around! Sometimes, we don't understand that the ones who we think are hardest on us are the ones that often care the most. Workplace Worked in the Communications Industry in Canada for 10 years, with a 2 year stint in Regulatory Enforcement. Currently own and operate an audio post-production facility near Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Here's the shameless plug, "precisionaudiolab dot-com".
