Chuck's Story
Life
I won the Maryland Lottery in 1974 and headed for Orlando, Florida. I bounced back and forth several times between there and Virginia. The next address was Palm Beach, FL where I founded The South Florida Washington Redskins Fan Club, we were 1000 strong. I was in the Redskins Journal, Washington Post, Palm Beach Post and Redskins Review of Leeds, England. Yep, that is correct, England.
We had a "Living Legends Award" we presented yearly to a chosen former Redskin. Some of the most memorable ones are Sonny Jergensen, John Riggins and Bobby Mitchell. We raised 10K for Darrell Green's Youth Life Foundation with him and 3 other Skins in Palm Beach after the last Super Bowl.
While I was doing the Redskin thing I was also learning to play the Scottish Highland Bagpipe. After qualifying for the Palm Beach Pipes and Drums band my life took a new direction. rt to Angie Dickinson (Police Woman), met Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith before there divorce. Some other familiar names are Sly Stallone, John Walsh, Patrick Wayne and The Donald.
I have marched in the Orange Bowl Parade in Miami and played in too many Irish Bars to remember.
The good times had to end as I was needed in Orlando to help with my elderly parents for several years. After that I was again home sick for Virginia and ended up back in Centreville. Shortly after getting settled in I met up with Linda Sutphin and we got married on April Fools Day of 2001. Well, as luck would have it, 3 months later she got a job promotion back in Florida. Probably the worst move for either one of us. I had to move back to Palm Beach to find a decent job. I was there 3 months and got rear-ended at 70 MPH by an uninsured Mexican and almost killed. Permanent disibility and Medicare at the age of 62. On Feb. 20th of 2007. Linda was killed in a head on car collision. I lost my best friend and my health in this disgusting place. The End
