Cindie's Story
Life
I was married for seven years; divorced in 1992. No kids but a bunch of wonderful nephews and nieces. After the scientific research company I worked for as an art director for nearly 20 years (1979-1999) relocated to Virginia, I worked at various advertising agencies in the Los Angeles area. Realizing that advertising was not my thing, I took a couple of months off and traveled, and thought about what I wanted to do.
I ended up moving to San Francisco and enrolling at the California Culinary Academy. After school, I moved back to Los Angeles and started working at Food Fanatics (see what we do at: foodfanatics.net).
Now my life revolves around food and travel, reading and writing. It could so easily be worse! I ride my Harley Dyna whenever and wherever I can; last big trip was to Death Valley. I use any excuse to travel. Recent trips have been to France, Vienna, Prague, Ireland, England and any excuse to go to Paris. Upcoming trips: Scotland, Italy, Tunisia, India. I go to San Francisco whenever I can because it's my favorite city.

Workplace
What I do as part of the Food Fanatics team is provide prop food for television and movies; style food for photo shoots; provide food and direction for cooking demonstrations for television and video; write entertaining and catering books under my own name and as a ghost writer for celebritie cookbooks; I also develop, test and edit recipes; and teach classes on food styling. For more detailed information check out the rest of the site I designed at foodfanatics.net
I get paid to play with food. Who knew there were jobs like this? My single favorite part of my work is styling food for a photo shoot for a cookbook. We also work on lots of tv shows and commercials. Everyday I get to meet new, creative and interesting people. TV sets are fascinating but I am glad I don't work on one every day.
