Cindy's Story
After High School
I went to the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee for college. I started out wanting to major in computer science, but I soon realized that I'm not a math person. I changed my major to Secondary Education. I lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for a little while and I attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. I transferred back to UWM and got my bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Studies. I was unable to get a teaching job, so I began work on my master's degree in history. I have the coursework and research for my thesis done, but I still have to write my thesis! Life kinda got in the way of that, but I'm hoping to finish my masters.
My husband
I actually met my husband, Jerry, through Kris Koster (St. Roman and Pulaski alumna). We went to St. Roman's Festival together and I gave Jerry a really hard time because he just passed his MCATs and got into Medical School. My grandmother had just passed away and I thought it was due, in part, to medical mismanagement.
Jerry and I were friends for a few years and then we began dating. We got married in September 1995.
Jerry is currently an Endocrinologist (diabetes and glands) in Green Bay. In July 2008, he will be a faculty member at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Our Home
We currently live in Green Bay, WI. We moved here in June 2000. We really like our house, our neighbors, etc., but Jerry was unhappy in his medical practice. We will be relocating back to the Milwaukee area in July 2008.
My kids

s 9 years old and he calls himself an "early teenager." He has the attitude of a teenager sometimes, but he's actually pretty funny. His favorite things right now are basketball, Runescape (an online computer game), Pokemon, and just playing outside.
My daughter, Rhiannon, is 5 years old. She is in preschool and loves learning to speak Spanish. She loves the Disney Princesses. She has a great imagination and pretends that she has many brothers and sisters, husbands, and kids. Her favorite things are singing and dancing. She wants to be on American Idol when she is old enough!
Spare time
In my spare time, I like to scrapbook and make cards with rubber stamps (stamping). I have part of our basement set up so I can watch TV while I scrapbook or stamp.
My career
I haven't taught full-time since Jacob was a baby and we lived in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It has been hard to find a Social Studies teaching position and I've also grown to like spending my time at home with the kids. I've worked as a Creative Memories consultant, a Cake 'n Crumbs instructor, as a Customer Service Rep for Aurora, and as a Lister on eBay. Rhiannon will be starting kindergarten in fall 2008, so I'm hoping to get a teaching position or some other type of job once we move to Franklin, WI.
I volunteer at my daughter's preschool, I teach Sunday School, I've taught Religious Education classes, and I'm a Cub Scout Den Leader. I'm hoping that spending time with my kids these past 5 years will dovetail into an interesting full-time job soon.
