Cindy's Story
After FOHI, I attended Scripps College. Inspired by our English teacher, Mr. Sanford, I majored in literature and became a teacher, first in Claremont and later in Newport Beach, where I still live. I had an unhappy first marriage, but married my second husband, John, in 1984, and we had 27 wonderful years together until he passed away five years ago. My two children live in Sonoma and Brookings, Oregon, and I have two terrific stepchildren who live nearby and with whom I am very close. My days are filled wit...Expand for more
h things I love. I play golf twice a week (poorly, but I love it!) and bridge. I enjoy travel, and three other widows and I have taken golf trips to Idaho and Montana, and this spring are going to Charleston for a week of golf and sightseeing. Three years ago, my dog Molly was certified as a therapy dog. The visits we make twice a week to local hospitals are more rewarding than anything I could have imagined. I love my family, my friends, my garden, and my books. So, life now is different but rich and good.
