Cindy's Story
Most days I'm busy resettling refugees in Austin for Refugee Services of Texas. Iraq, Iran, Bhutan, Afghanistan, Burma, and Cuba are some of the countries the US is helping relocate. It's the best "work" I've ever done and the experiences I've had with refugees have been humbling, revealing, informative and given me greater appreciation (which I didn't know was possible) for my own c...Expand for more
ountry, flawed though it may be. Austin's a vibrant city and other than the oppressive heat six months a year, a terrific city to in which to live and raise children.
I miss the Midwest terribly and visit Michigan/Indiana each fall to get my fall color fix and to enjoy lakes that are more than damned up river pools (Texas only has one natural lake-imagine!)
All in all, life is good.
