Cindy's Story
Hi everyone..Just like all of you I too have been busy living life since graduation..I graduated from college with degrees in liberal arts and Medical Laboratory technology..was married at 23 and at 25 my daughter Shawn lit up my life..23
months later my son Christopher
joined our family..he had dubbed
himself my pain in the butt
because of the trouble he gave
me at birth..16 months later my baby Bryan graced our life..I stayed home and raised them
until all were in school..I worked
part time so I could help with
expenses..it also gave me an
outlet for adult interaction !! I
went back to school when they
were all in high school..took
refresher courses so I could get a
job in my field..I started working
at Sidney Hospital..remained
there until it closed in 2005..once
Bassette took over and I went
back to work until I was forced
to retire on disability...I worked as
a Laboratory tech/
phlebotomist..I loved working in
the outpatient lab where I was able to
interact with our patients..I
also worked with the nurses in
the ER when labs were needed
and they were unable to draw or
when they were not good draws and had to be redrawn..My
children are all grown with
children of their own..Shawn and
her son Jacob,12, live in
Sidney..Chris and his son Ethan,
9, live in Virginia..and Bryan, his
wife Jenelle and their daughter,
Myla,3, live on Long Island..all three
of my children graduated college
with honors..Shawn works in her
field as a dispatcher for the state
police and for Chenango
County..Chris works at the
largest post office in
Virginia..he has a degree in Business management..and
Bryan works as an Information
Technolgist at a government
facility on Long Island.. he graduated with degrees in journalism and Information Technology..all work for the government with government benefits..they, thankfully, all have their futures secure..makes my hard work in raising them and putting them through college worth every second..as you all know..it's not easy raising chidren anymore..government always has its way of getting involved !! While I am no longer working, I stay active..I bowl twice a week..play pitch twice a week..my best friend ,Jerry, is my partner..he is self employed and works 10-12 hours/ day..I love to fish..we go whenever we can..have ne...Expand for more
w rods this year..am looking forward to some fresh fish for dinner !! I travel to Virginia 3-4 times a year to visit Chris and Ethan..do not like driving through New York City..Bryan and his family come home 3-4 times a year ..they not only visit here but go to Cortland and Ithaca where they went to college, lived , and worked until they moved to Long Island 2 years ago..I still live in Sidney..in the house where my children grew up..have been here since 1978..Chris wants me to move to Virginia and live with him and Ethan..but I have a life here with many friends and family..not sure if I could give that all up yet..I belong to the Sidney Elks..the fire department auxillary..a womans international sorority..Preceptor Beta Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi..we do a lot of volunteer sevice in our communities..I like to travel..went to San Diego a few years ago..Las Vegas 2 years ago..have been to Chicago..Atlanta..Florida..and several years ago 25 of my family..cousins..all spent a week in Myrtle Beach..Have also been to Washington DC..spent hours at the museum of American History..WWII exhibit..often take trips to New York City for baseball games..and shows at Radio City..last one being The Rockettes Christmas show..so amazing..I also crochet when I have time..I love to read..anything from newspapers..magazines..to all kinds of books..always have one open..my favorites are mystery..espionage..and historical novels like North and South by John Jakes..favorite authors are: Tom Clancy..James Patterson..John Jakes..Cynthia Freeman..Rosimond Pilcher..Nicholas Sparks..could list more but these really cover what I like to read..love going to concerts..hope to see Heart and Pat Benatar at Bethel Woods end of July..have seen Kid Rock numerous times..ZZ Tops..Florida/Georgia line..Billy Joel..Elton John..always loved my music..still kicking myself for not going to Wilkes College for music..hindsight..too bad we can't see the future before we embark on life !! I really enjoy hearing from my classmates..either through facebook or through classmates..have been able to see some of you over the years..Connie & Dann, Joan, Rinda, Fayne, Cathy S, Beth, Barry, Steve S.. Cathy M, Charlie, Gini, Brenda, and those from class reunions..we are all still connected even though we have traveled different roads..
