Claudia's Story
I Graduated from Davidson High School and the University of Alabama in Child Development and Family Life. Enriching the lives of young children is something I really love. My job as a Governess , a teacher in Nursery School , Kindergarten. and Day Care and a Music Therapist with mentally disabled adults contributed to that joy and also to my own understanding of human development.
Small towns like where I lived, rarely turn down volunteers for Community endeavors. I had opportunities to participate in Theatre, Chamber music, Follies, Jazz Band, Social and Charity Clubs, Churches, and help with the Arts. Sort of nice living in a small town.
As a hobby I started repairing vintage pottery, decorative frames, furniture, and then most anything non- technical. I collected and restored. My hobby turned into a business and soon I owned an Antique Mall. It was time consuming however, and I sold out after 4 years.
Perhaps the most difficult, but the most rewarding job I had was raising 3 sons. Two of my sons have engineering degrees, The oldest owns a family restaurant where I helped make deserts for several years. I retired when Covid came along and then came...Expand for more
grandbabies. Now I am back teaching and caring for young children; For me, a pleasant occupation.......
Quite a few grave yards have been on my bucket list the last few years. That sounds morbid, but an interest grew in Ancestry. I took some courses to increase the speed of learning what I wanted to know. Today, Ancestry is far more interesting than ever with the availability of the internet and records from everywhere collected in libraries and court houses easily accessible. The stories of the families in my past have come alive with awesome tales and some characters I'd rather sweep under the rug. Other families are also interesting to me. I was able to help on a cold case that led to tracing the family of a child who had been found buried in a barrel in the woods with other children unrelated. Genetics is benefitting families in more ways than previously known.
Keeping healthy is more of a challenge these latter years for me. Some of it lies in genetics. I blame it for everything that ails me.
I haven't been without life's battles but choose not to dwell on them. Because of them I am always learning more about God's power and His mercy and my responsibility to be kind to other people.
