Claudia's Story
Mark and I met at a free concert in Ann Arbor in August, 1970, and headed out to San Francisco shortly after. It was a great time to be there and living near the Haight-Ashbury district. Mark worked at a restaurant at Fisherman's Wharf, and I worked at the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. We walked, took the trolley cars, and rode our bikes everywhere, including over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, where we once saw Crosby and Stills, and then rode our bikes all the way up to the top of Mt. Tamalpais, which has a breath-taking view of the mountains and the ocean. There were so many great concerts we went to... Allman Brothers, Cat Stevens, Jethro Tull, Neal Young, Frank Zappa, Hot Tuna, and even a free concert with Country Joe and the Fish. Jefferson Airplane's house was down the road toward the ocean.
We were married there 39 years ago, lived there for about a year and a half, then came back to Michigan after a 10 week adventure backpacking around Europe, and expecting our first baby.

in Royal Oak, Mark's hometown, since 1972, so we could be closer to family. I am the receptionist at a pediatric office, and Mark is a free-lance illustrator / all around artist. Three years he began a landscape design company with 2 friends called Three Green Thumbs. Two of the Thumbs stepped back from the picture, and now Mark does Yard Makeovers. Again,we hope the business will be even better this coming year.
We have 2 wonderful grandkids, Blake, who is 11, and little sister, Grace, is 8. They are so much fun, and we are very happy they live close by.
About 36 years ago Mark and I became born-again Christians and that has been the most significant decision of our lives. Knowing Jesus has been a journey of discovery of God's love and has brought us joy and inner peace that is just not found in anything else. It sure surprised me that the answer was so simple, and yet so powerful. I searched and searched, thinking surely it had to be some different way, but everything else came up short. All I can say is, give Jesus a chance. You won't be sorry.
