Claudia Duffey:  

I was born in Glendale, CA and lived in Highland Park for a few years then moved to Covina CA in 1954. Eastland was orange groves and cows and the 10 Fwy went only as far as Five Points in El Monte. I went to Barranca Ele. from 4th to 6th grade then went to Traweek Jr. High in 7th grade and Eva D. Edwards in 8th grade then I started Covina HS. I started dating Jim in Oct. of my Freshman year and Jim was a Senior. He went into the Navy after HS and got out in July of 1963. I graduated in June and we were married on September 6, '63. I worked at Taylor Publishing and a few other places. We lived in a house in Covina and the day we sold it I went into labor and we only had two weeks to move. Kim was born the day after we sold the house Aug. 16, 1968, so I didn't have to do anything but take care of my new baby and everyone else pitched in to help us move. We moved into an apartment for 4 months until we could buy a bigger home. We moved to Diamond Bar Jan. 1, 1969. We then had a son in '70. I got to be a stay at home mom until my son graduated from high school. I felt guilty for just staying home so I went to work for McDonnall Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach in 1988. I worked there for about 10 years and in the meantime it was bought out by Boeing, but they kept all the people. After being laid off latter on, because of downsizing I went to work part-time at Mt. SAC in their computer lab for two years. After that I thought staying home wasn't such a bad idea and have been at home ever since. We loved traveling and it was great for the kids to see so many interesting and historical places all over the US. We started with a truck and camper them advanced to a motorhome. We had dirt bikes and sandrails and had a wonderful time with friends and family traveling. After the kids got into their later teens we sold the motorhome and would travel by car or airplane.
