Clement's Story
First of all, let me say I am one heckuva hypocrite. I remember listening to all the tunes back in the 70's and 80s and my dad asking me how I could listen to that noise. Well, here it is 2008 and on my Ipod would be Springsteen, The Who, Neil Young, etc...and my kids are listening to who knows what, all I'm saying to them is...how can they listen to that....noise? Haha. Full circle. Go figure. Music is a pretty universal thing. I don't know about you,but a song can bring me back to a particular moment in my life. Dancing in the Moonlight was a rather insignificant tune, but I can remember strolling across the Casa Grande campus for an 8th grade dance, thinking about that song....and yes, it's on my Ipod today. Life is pretty amazing when you think about it. I exited high school wondering how the heck I was going to be an adult, raise a family, buy a house...and today 'm wondering when my retirement day is coming.
Life
I live down south in a small community called Agoura Hills, down in Southern California. I've been in the aerospace industry for 30 years, currently as a Regional Sales Manager. Got two great girls, both are in college, one at UCLA and the other at Santa Monica College. And of course, a fantastic wife, who some of you met at the last reunion. Travel on business quite a bit and also family vacations have taken us from Italy, Japan, London, Mexico. I read that Casa Grande's got a nice baseball team.. Go Gauchos! My oldest daughter is driving now. Both have a talent agent and have done some commercials. I'm hoping that they can make it big and allow me to retire (not likely, but I can hope!). The oldest already had her SAG card by the time she was 8 years old and is currently dating the drummer for Foxygen (they have a song on the Top 100 B...Expand for more
illboard).
School
Larry Potts was a great teacher...and a pretty good basketball coach too. Marilyn Stratford was an inspiration. Always liked Mr. Cleveland and Mr. Braito. Crush? No comment, too many to list. Enjoyed the homecoming dances and the proms...god, the anxiety! Here's a shout out for peach colored tuxedos! (Thank god they did away with those). Everytime I see Something About Mary it brings me tears to my eyes. That scene when he shows up at her doorstep with the corsage with all that awkward anxiety....that was me!
College
Went to Santa Rosa JC. Great campus. Then took off for CSU Northridge, a typical commuter school. Met my soon to be wife there. Been married for almost 20 years. Back to college...lived in a dorm then in an apartment. Degree in Journalism and Marketing minor. Interned at the LA Times and then discovered long hours and low pay, then bailed. College was great and would recommend it highly. Went from top 10% in high school to being just slightly better than average in college. I goofed off royally. But the college experience was very much a determining point in my life.
Workplace
Let's see...interned at the LA Times, bailed for advertising (yes, i sold my soul). Migrated to sales, first as a product manager, then operations, then to field sales and now as Director of Sales and Marketing and decided to prepare myself for retirement and go with a role that is less stressful...a Regional Sales Manager.
Military
I visit quite a few military bases in my work. Admire those in uniform and appreciate their dedication and commitment. In some respects, I wish I got into the military, but college beckoned and went straight into the business world. But our company supports defense in a big way, so I'm happy to contribute in that way.
