Cliff's Story

Life Retired from IBM 9/1/99 after 29 years. Married (Sue Carnahan) since 1972; 2 daughters Lisa and Lucy. Did part-time farm field/mechanic work (except in 2007 and retired from this after 2014). Don't want to work full-time on computers anymore. Started building cabinets and furniture under the name Cliff's Cabinet Shop. Recently added a small portable sawmill to my arsenal of toys (I mean... tools). Sue and I also run a small business selling Christian books under the name Refreshing Words. Try to spend a few weeks in the South each winter. Lisa is married and has four sons (born 2005, 2008, 2013 and 2016). She was a store manager and shift supervisor for a large drug store chain. She now home-schools her boys full-time; the oldest graduated in 2023. Lisa's husband, Andy, is a truck driver. Lucy is married, an USAF veteran (served in the Mid-East War), completed her Masters Degree at LSU, and is an elementary school teacher and curriculum developer for a large school district in Louisiana. She has 2 daughters (born 2009 and 2013) and a son (born 2011). Lucy's husband, Gerrick, is a retired USAF SMSgt (also served in the Mid-East War) and they live near Barksdale AFB, LA where Gerrick works at Global Strike Command Headquarters. School My first year of school was in the first grade at Fabius (they had no Kindergarten at the time). Our classroom was in the basement of the Methodist Church in Fabius. In the second grade our class was joined by students from Pompey after the roof blew off of the school there. I...Expand for more
had the opportunity to attend three different high schools, all in my Junior and Senior years -- Fabius, Perry and Cazenovia. Played baseball at all three, also, soccer and gymnastics at Fabius and volleyball at Perry. I was the only Junior on an otherwise all Senior volleyball team at Perry. Hobbies I gained an interest in stock car racing while at Morrisville. Have raced (on a limited budget) a small block modified, a late model, and a mini-modified. Tracks I raced at: Middletown, NY (Orange County Fair Speedway); Nazareth, PA (the old 1/2 mile); Accord, NY (Accord Speedway); Owego, NY (the old ShangriLa Speedway); Dundee, NY (now OutLaw Speedway); Kirkwood, NY (5-Mile Point Speedway); Elbridge, NY (Rolling Wheels Speedway); and one trip to West Lebanon, NY (Lebanon Valley Speedway) where I blew an engine in warmups, Ugh! I have attended races at 74 tracks as far East as Thompson, CT, West to Watsonville, CA, North to Oswego, NY and South to Hialeah, FL. In 2016 I became involved by getting 2 of my grandsons involved in microd racing (they were 12 and 8 years old). College SUNY Morrisville (MATI): AAS Agricultural Engineering. University of Tampa: Liberal Arts courses while in USAF. SUNY Cortland: more Liberal Arts courses. SUNY Binghamton: Computer programming and small business courses. Military Served in USAF (10/64 to 9/68). Basic: Lackland AFB, TX. Technical school: 3402nd Student Squadron, Keesler AFB, MS. AC&W Warning Radar Repairman: 660th Radar Squadron, MacDill AFB, FL. Good duty, did not get shot at!

Middletown backstretch again.
Middletown 2nd turn into backstretch.
Middletown 2nd turn. You can see how flat it is even in the turn. I was new at it and not really hanging it out.
Middletown Pits: Jimmy Banks and me changing "the wedge". Middletown was pretty flat so I needed more wedge than I had anticipated.
Middletown pits: Valley Performance Specialties, the closest I had to a sponsor... parts at cost... machine work free.
Just finished. 1974
