Cliff's Story

I am a vagabond, I lived in 10 different homes before my 18th birthday. After I returned from 3 years in the army I attended BYU and met my wife. Peggy Goodrich( class of 1955 Union High in Roosevelt,Utah) we were married May 1957. Since we have been together we have moved 31 times in our 50 years together. Counting the 8 places I was stationed in the army I have called 49 places home. I have said many times "I will never move again " but the ever changing events in our lives sometimes mean making moves. Peggy and I are the proud parents of 5 daughters, Christina 1958, Julie 61,Ellen 65, Jenny 66 and Sylvia 1968. I have never been without a job since I was 9 years old until I retired in1997. Then I worked part time 2 summers in a garden center. I would still like to be working if circumstances would allow. My job now, which I enjoy 'most of the time' is caring for my 5 year old grandson David . " My Buddy" I attended school in No Las Vegas 1939-40, Searchlight,Nev. 1940-42, Basic'Henderson' 1942-43. 1943-1948 Huntridge" John S. Park.in Las Vegas. Las Vegas High 1948-1952. gas Sun 1951-52. Although I call Vegas home we moved out of town in 1946 on to 20 acres of mesquite jungle. We cleared about 7 acres and raised Melons, tomatoes and corn which we sold to Rocky Mtn. Produce. They then sold it to local cafes and strip hotels. We also planted about 30 fruit trees. It was a good life but being 3 miles from civilization made it hard to socialize as much as I would have liked. I enlisted in the army April 1,1953, went to photography school at Fort Monmouth N.J. and then was assigned to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines Feb 1954-Feb 1956. When I returned home to Las Vegas in 1956 I had some great friends in Vegas and Henderson. I followed them to BYU in Sept 56 and graduated with a B.A. in El. Education in 1960. I taught school for the next 37 years in Utah and Nevada." Loved it". I am living out my old age in Logan, Utah trying to endure the cold winters without to much complaining. The lowest points of my life were when I burned our home down in 1950 and my 3 battles with cancer 1990,1997 & 2003. Best points, a good wife, 5 daughters, 13 grandchildren, & 2 great grandsons.
