Bill's Story
I attended St. Michael’s Elementary School in Los Angeles. My first year of high school I attended Mt. Carmel HS. The next year we moved to Canoga Park in the San Fernando Valley and I went to Chatsworth HS until I graduated in 1969.
I enlisted in the Army following HS, but it was determined that I was unable to serve due to a hearing loss. I became disgruntled with city life and all of the people. I went to Pierce College majoring in Agriculture. After graduating from Pierce I moved to Northern California in 1974 to attend CSU Chico. I lived in Paradise, CA. and met the love of my life. In 1976 we got married. I earned a BS in Animal Science. In 1983, I was in the midst of a deep depression and realized that isolation was making it worse...Expand for more
. I returned to CHico State and majored in Counseling Psychology. I earned a BA and a MA in Counseling and began my counseling career working in a program dealing with Domestic Violence. In 1987 I began working at the Department of Behavioral Health. I worked for the county DBH for over 25 years and retired as the Program Manager for Behavioral Health services in the Paradise area. Since retiring, I have mostly been spending time with my family and friends and enjoying sports like skiing, golf, fishing and hunting.
In 2018, our lives were turned upside down by the Camp Fire that destroyed our home and the Town of Paradise where we lived. My wife and I and our families now reside in the city of Chico, CA about 100 miles north of Sacramento.
