Coleen's Story
Sept 2015 had a wonderful cruise to St Lucia, Antiqua,Barbados - Weather was wonderful and we arrived back to Ft Lauderdale just ahead of Juoquin the storm. Did not get to stop at Princess Cay island due to rough weather but the rest of the time was WONDERFUL. Snorkeled, visited the islands and ate!!! We sailed on the Royal Princess, a beautiful ship.
Had a great Class of 57 reunion at Camp Hope this past Saturday August 22. 72 classmates and spouses showed up for a delicious BBQ from the Black Bear Café of Canton. It was a fun evening visiting and talking with old friends. Those not able to be there missed a treat!!
Bob had back surgery in spring of 2015 so our traveling is on hold for now until he gets over this surgery. Therapy is doing wonders for him. He hopes to be back on the Golf course soon! We are looking forward to vacationing in Barbados this fall. And in seeing old friends on August 22, 2015 at Camp Hope for our 58th Class Reunion!!!
In Fall of 2014 we cruised to Haiti and Cozumel just to cruise in beautiful weather. We sailed on the Liberty of the Seas a beautiful ship and one we have been on several times. Great way to have a vacation.
In Spring of 2014 we cruised to Rome, Italy. A Wonderful trip. 15 Day cruise and 3 extra days in Rome. We visited Maderia -Portugal; Gibraltar UK; Sardinia Italy; Sicily, Italy, Naples, Italy and Rome, Italy. We toured as much as we could (and could afford) places such as Pompeii in Naples was outstanding, The Vatican in Italy, Toscana, so much to see. Great cruise and wonderful ship...Celebrity Silhouette sailing out of Miami.
The trip to St Thomas was great!! weather was beautiful. Jamaica still shows hurricane damage but the other Islands were gorgeous. We can't get enough of the Islands. The ship is unbelievable. So large. My preference is a smaller "Radiance" size ship. We are planning a trip to Rome, Italy in the Spring and this is one I'm really looking forward to.....the ship is Celebrity this time. A bit smaller that the Royal Caribbean Allure. Wonderful way to travel.
2013 finds us in good health and planning a cruise to St. Thomas on the new Allure of the Seas in September.
GREAT CHRISTMAS 2012 TRIP TO JAMAICA.and HAITI. Enjoyed sailing on the Liberty of the Seas (Royal Caribbean) same ship we sailed on to Barcelona Spain.

Great trip. I highly recommend the cruise and the glass domed train.....beautiful and wild and danagerous. We both loved the trip but do not plan to go back.
New Story....my grandson was doing a project in school recently and called to ask me if I had an old magazine that was in the 50s (yes, I still had some of my Mom's LIFE magazines so I found him one....he asked if I had an old campaign button...(yes, I found an old Isenhower and Nixon campaign button... he asked if I had an old 45 record of the Beatles...(yes, I found one.) WOW he was so impressed and said this was really going to help him get a good grade on his school project. Well, at least we now know somethings you save are worth something. :)
Maturity finds me with more patience and understanding. I look closer into a person's eyes than on the surface to find out what kind of person they are.
I am retired from local government where I worked with 1200 employees on Human Resource Benefits and then retired a second time after 10 years as Assistant Director of the Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, a local non-profit. I enjoyed doing the fund raising (grant writing and coordinating the golf tournaments). Such fun and great places to work.
Spouse
Bob is an avid golfer and loves to travel. We both do. We visit a lot of places both in the US and outside. My favorite has been Ireland. We also visited Portugal and Belgium, France, England and this year we are headed toward Spain. Such an exciting experience meeting other people.
Pet
We have a registered toy poodle that is absolutely the smartest little dog ever. She is apricot colored two year old and practically talks to us. She is always happy and friendly, a wonderful companion. Bob & I both are so crazy about this little person and we worry about her when we are away, its like having a child at home again.
Children...
One son age 40 who is married to wonderful daughter-in-law Teresa. They have two children (no longer babies...grandaughter is 19 and grandson is 15. We are so proud of them all. Just wish they lived closer....Atlanta is too far to see as often as I would like.
Friends
I still have some great friends from the Class of 1957 Canton High School. I respect and love them and sincerely hope we continue our friendships for life.
