Colette's Story

Her schools include Citrus Union High School Glendora, Ca. Arcadia High School Arcadia, Ca. and Elston Senior High School, Michigan City, In. and has an active Facebook page. I am so sorry to have to share this bad news we have just received. My daughter Natalie Hoffman has pancreatic cancer. Her friends have started a fund raising website GiveForward.com We are hoping to have her surgery scheduled this coming Monday. Her doctor is one of a few that performs this new surgery Dr. Robert Donoway. This surgery is also offered at John Hopkins and Rush in Chicago. Maybe this post can help some of you with family history of cancer. Love to all, Colette Boza Golightly Natalie's surgery was successful but it is the beginning of a battle to kill the cancer and return her to her healthy state once again. Her attitude is great and she is a warrior. Colette is writing to you praying that you will help us to save the life her our daughter Natalie Shepard. Natalie is 47.yrs.old. She was a Court Reporter in Illinois. Natalie and her husband Owen could not have children. After treatment at a fertility center in Florida, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, named after her mother, Colette. Her baby died in the premie room of a Bahamas hospital. We were devastated. But Natalie had faith, and two years later, and a return to the fertility center she conceived again. Our granddaughter CoCo Elizabeth is now 18 months old and just learning to talk! Shortly thereafter Natalie became ill, and was in great pain. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer by Cleveland Clinic. They told her it was inoperable and that she had a short time to live. Two days after that news, we found a doctor who operated on her, and told us that he removed all the cancer he could see. To be sure that microscopic ...Expand for more
cells that might remain were destroyed , he prescribed chemotherapy. Natalie had no insurance, and her operation was not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. The cost of these treatments bankrupted me. She lost over 60 lbs on chemo, lost all of her hair, and could barely leave her bed. The chemo was killing her. Despite this she forced herself to feed CoCo and spend every moment she could with her. Then we were blessed with a visit from a doctor who has spent his whole life studying and fighting cancer. He taught medicine at Stanford and Harvard. He discovered cutting edge treatments (immunotherapy and stem cells) that are not available in the States and has begun to treat Natalie. She has gained weight and is responding. The doctors and I believe this treatment will kill her cancer and save her life! I am writing to appeal to my friends, the social media and public for help. I do not have the money to pay for Natalie’s doctors, medicine and hospital care. I have exhausted our resources and family help. The doctors have donated their time free, but the cost of the medication and care will exceed $250,000, and I have spent every cent I have to save her,.I have no more. I need to raise $25,000 immediately to pay for her medicine. This will give me some time to raise the rest. Pancreatic cancer does not wait- every moment is important! If you can help , I pray for your contribution to save Natalie- and for CoCo who needs her mother. I can be contacted at (954)7237-5414. I have a web site for contributions. They do charge a small service fee out of funds contributed. If you desire to send funds directly, every cent will go to Natalie’s treatment. Please let me know and I will send my account. Giveforward has been set up to receiver donations and info on Natalie's progress.
