Colleen's Story
I don't know about you, but I don't feel old enough to be in a class that graduated 40 years ago. Yet, my FHS memories are vague, at best, so maybe it's true. I'm grateful for the memory-bearers who keep such things alive. As I read accounts posted by others in our graduating class, events and people I haven't thought of in decades come back to me. Thank you to all who have taken the time to share their memories.
My memories are mostly snapshot images, blurred by time: band trips, chorus concerts, red and blue dining rooms (which never made sense to me because those were the colors of our rival), German classes, Fife Corps, football games, hopes and dreams shared with friends.
I'm still married to Dave Williams, an ordained minister of the United Methodist Church. Dave is pastoring a church in Connecticut so right now we call CT home. We lived in Maine for many years and its way of life resonates with my soul more than any other place I have lived. Dave and I have 2 daughters, Jacquelyn and Noelle, bo...Expand for more
th of whom are married and have families of their own. They don't live nearby so we do most of our grandparenting long distance.
Dave and I started our family early and I was a stay at home mom. In those days I was the quintessential volunteer and the mom who chaperoned class trips and baked goodies for every party. Perhaps the best job I ever had! When our girls were older I completed my undergrad at the University of Southern Maine and did graduate work at Saint Paul's School of Theology, completing a specialization in Gerontology. I currently serve as a Director of Clergy Family Services for the Preachers' Aid Society of New England. It's a job that allows me to travel and I spend my time visiting retired clergypersons and their spouses. I am also the coordinator of the United Methodist clergy spouse community in New England.
It's been an amazing 40 years filled with joy, excitement, sorrow, contentment... the list goes on.... God is good and God's love has carried my family and me through it all.
