Colleen's Story
Happy New Year! It has to be better than 2008 doesn't it? (grin).
There have been a few bright spots in 2008 for us however. My daughter Renee FINALLY graduated college after 8 long years! Of couse she has a double major to show for it, so I can't complain - I am just happy she has finally settled into her adult life with the career she wants!
My grandson, Caleb turned 5 this year and started kintergarden. I can hardly believe that he is off to school already! He is the light of our life and a grand addition to our family!
Three and a half years ago we purchased a lake house that we intended to fix up and keep for retirement...then the bottom fell out of the real estate market! So we are ...Expand for more
juggling the ownership of two houses (and the taxes that go with it), and have barely made a dent in the fix up process for the lake house as a result.
Since both my husband's and my career were heavily tied to the real estate and building industy, we have had some difficult challenges these past few years. I finally gave up and became licensed to sell securities and a financial advisor....then the financial industry collapsed! Actually, it is better than I would have thought since (unfortunately for those going through it), I have been able to help people with their 401 (k) rollovers when their jobs are in transition.
I am looking forward to a better New Year and hope this finds everyone well!
