Talitha's Story

Life My life bio. Hmmm. Well, I've been an aspiring writer since I was nine years old. I have had one poem published, but only in a free publication, so that doesn't really count. I got married at 19, spent four years in the military, had a son, moved to Washington to be with my family. Then my husband got a job in NJ, so we lived in PA for seven months. He hated the hour commute (each way) and the snow, so then we moved to AZ to be with my family again. We lived there for three years, and now we're in Las Vegas. School Ah, school. High School. I hated school as a child. I had a crush in high school - on a skater boy. But a girlfriend convinced me to date her geeky friend instead. What a disaster that was! Not that we didn't have some fun, but overall - disaster! We dated nine months, even went to prom. Ah well. Some things you just have to get through. First loves..... College I love college. I just don't like the loans. I have gone to seven colleges. I have my Associate's and am still working towards my Bachelor's. The funny thing is, I have enough credits for a Bachelor's, they're just not all in the same major. I have a year in Psychology, a year in Business, and a year in language - Spanish and French. I never had the "college life" experience, because I got married and had a kid. But I always enjoy going to class, hearing lectures, reading the materials, and especially - writing the papers. I hope to finish up my Bachelor's in English, minor in Spanish, in 2008/2009. We'll see if that really happens.... Workplace My first job was Taco Bell. I had a horrid crush on supervisor, a blonde if you can believe that! Then we moved and I worked at Subway, where a cousin managed.. That was fun. After that, there was Jack-in-the-Box, Taco Bell again, then I joined the military. While I was in the military (because they pay so well), I worked at Supercuts and Barnes and Noble. Then, when I got out,...Expand for more
I worked at SEH America and Coldwell Banker in Washington. Then I went back to school. Then we moved, so I worked at a hospital, for a whole three days, in medical records. Boring! So, when we moved back to AZ, I got temp jobs at real estate investment offices and construction offices. I interview a social service company for school and got hired there. I provide transportation and took notes for supervised visits. That was interesting. Did it for a week and a half. Moving on.... I got a job at Bath and Body Works in the mall, Christmas season 2004. That was fun. Quit on Christmas Eve. Then, January of 2005 I got a temp job at Wells Fargo in downtown Phoenix. I got hired on permanently there in June 2005. I hated that job. It paid okay and it was in an office, all cushy and crap, but good heavens it was boring! So, I walked out one sunny afternoon in September 2006 and never went back. I know, how horrible. I just couldn't do it anymore. So irresponsible. (You only live once) Okay, so now I'm in Vegas, working at the airport for US Airways. Love it! I get to see all kinds of people, I get to be on my feet, movin' around. It's great! And free travel. Can't beat it... Military Basic training was six weeks of hell. Our first weekend off-base, me and my three girlfriends went to the tatoo parlor and got marked. It was something to do... then we had some beer and boys. Ah, the sins of our youth... My first station was Great Falls, MT. Yes, per my request. It was quiet there. The dorms were cozy. A little too cozy sometimes. I made snow angels and ate fruit loops and fell in love. Then the base moved to Tampa, FL. I got to deploy is Istres, France for 45 days. That was fun. I toured the vineyards and gambled in Monte Carlo. We brought home wine. It was great. I was debating staying in when my four years were up, but I was bored and I have to re-enlist before I could crosstrain. So, I got out in June of 1999.
