Winifred's Story
Hi Classmates, I left Bassett at the end of 1966. I lived in foster homes and I moved to another home in Covina. I was in the first semester of my Junior year at Bassett and then transferred to Covina HS as a Senior. So I graduated from Covina HS in 1967. However, I only went to Covina for 7 months and knew just about no one. My friends were from Torch and Bassett. David Bejarano was my boyfriend and I felt like Bassett was my high school. After high school had a very short marriage, 22 months. During those 22 months I was pregnant for 18 of them. I had two daughters. I finished college and became a Registered Nurse in 1972. In 1976 I had identical twin girls. I raised my four daughters as a single mother and I was single from age 20 until 41 when I married my late husband. We were married for 26 years when he passed. ...Expand for more
He was a physician and we met at work. When he retired we moved to rural Oregon, outside Bend and opened a small medical practice. I have been back in So Cal for a few years now. Retired from Nursing in 2017. I got a FB message in 2012 from my old love David Bejarano. Unfortunately I wasn't familiar with "messaging" and managed to miss the "friend request" for almost 5 years. We started to communicate in early 2017 and we met for the 50th reunion. It was a love reconnection and we've been together ever since. We married on Feb 28, 2019, 54 years to the day after we first met at the Little Theater at BHS. We had a table full of BHS classmates there to celebrate with us. Life is good. I've really enjoyed seeing the classmates that have been meeting since the reunion. I would love to hear from any friends from Bassett.
