Connie's Story

Before I get into that bio, I'd like to ask a favor of each of you that visit. My son Duncan has been diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 2. He will be going into surgery soon for the first of two known tumors in his brain. I simply ask that you include him in your prayers. Now, back to the bio... Hello all, Glad to have met you back at this website. During school I was pretty much an outcast. Fat, loud and very stubburn. These days I am relatively calm, quiet and analytical. /among other things I underwent gastroplasty to loose the weight. For the past 30 years I have been working as a paralegal. First in personal injury, then medical malpractice and most recently (20 years) intellectual property. I am currently retired, but enjoy keeping my hand in things just to keep abreast of the issues. I am divorced twice, with four kids - two step (I divorced their father, not them) and two natural born. My oldest kids are married and have kids of their own (grandma - ugh ...) and I have two that graduated from high school on May 27th. 2009. I now live with a wonderful man, John, and we get along wonderfully. I can't remember the last fight that we had. Thank you lord!. Nancy King (Brown) sent me a copy of the Reunion Year Book and I had a wonderful time remembering those days. Mr. Cloony was also my favorite teacher, but then I practiced and didn't get yelled at much, but boy do I remember the music stand flying!!!. I pray he is doing well (didn't hear anything to the contrary). If you want to drop a line, that would be find, I will get back to you soon. In the meantime, take care and be well. Current date - September 22, 2013 - Well time has certainly changed things since my initial bio was posted. For those that prayed for Duncan's wellbeing, I thank you - he did very well through surgery and his recovery was largely without incident. Today he lives in South Carolina and works for Cox Cable as an installer, making a fairly decent living. My daughter Paige still lives in California and has just made manager for the Electronics Dept. in a new Walmart Superstore in Escondido. In June of 2011 I moved to Alabama to help my mother take care of my father, who suffered from a multitude of problems. John did not come with me. In December of 2012 he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Immediately a...Expand for more
fter surgery he seemed to be much better, but after a week or so, he made a rapid decline in his cognitive thinking, and became very difficult to care for. Sadly, we also found that dad had contracted c-dif, which went largely undiagnosed and untreated in the hospital. In February of 2013, we brought him home and put him into home hospis so as to allow him to be home when he passed away. I must say that it was exceedingly difficult to care for him, but it was what he wanted and it gave us time to resolve long held issues. During his last days he seemingly lost his "self". He did not know Mom or I, and his spouts of dementia became increasingly debilitating and at times violent. On April 25, at 3:16 a.m. my father went home to be with the Lord. Since his passing I have experienced so many emotional extremes, and have only just allowed myself to cry, but I have also found peace in knowing that I helped him through this horrific ordeal. There is a brighter side to this story. In early 2012 I met a man with whom I believe I have found that permanent home (we just this past week started looking at wedding rings). His name is David, and he is a recently retired doctor. We live in Mobile, right on the Dog River. The home we purchased is a Katrina house. (For those who don't know what that is, it is a house that barely survived Hurricane Katrina in 2005) When we bought it, it was essentially a frame. Before we bought the house, it had been stripped of ALL electrical wiring and pluming, and most everything else they could carry. We are now at a point where we are ready to install carpeting and finish the kitchen. It too has been difficult raising this house to inhabitable condition, as we did the lion's share of the work on the house. David even did all the wiring and pluming himself (with the aid of a few Home Depot instruction manuals and the occasional conversation with a contractor). I have to admit I was pretty sketchy on the wiring, and we did have a scare or two when it came to the circuit box . . . but they seem to be fixed now (thank you Lord). This is about it for now, but I will come back at another time and up-date you on the saga on my life - lol. In earnest, pray this finds you well and happy.
