Connie's Story
I retired in 2008 from the Department of Defense, Defense Finance & Accounting Service after 37 years. I started as a clerk typist GS-3 back in 1970 working part time at K I Sawyer AFB, and retiring as a GS-14, as Director of Civilian Pay, Operations at the Denver DFAS Center.
Along the way I had two daughters, Rebecca and Kristen, and one son, Shane. Becky runs a day program for developmentally disabled adults & children, Kristen is an office & marketing manager for a local sports store, and Shane lives his dream job as a Captain for NetJets. All are married, and between them, I have 6 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. In 2004, I married Jeff Pepin from Greeley, Colorado, and gained two step-daughters, Joanna and Krista. Since Retirement, I have started a second career part-time as a travel planner, specializing in cruise travel. I got the cruising bug about 16 years ago when my mom and I went on y first cruise, and share it with Jeff about 13 years ago. I decided to make my passion a second career as Cruises by Connie LLC. I also work for Becky as the HR and Payroll Manager for Care & Community LLC.
My hobbies are grand-kids, machine embroidery and showing dogs, Gordon Setters. We recently added to the family with a new Gordon puppy, Shiloh, who keeps us busy and laughing. Several of the grandsons are heavily invested in soccer so we spend lots of time at soccer games, tournaments, and practices between cruising and dog shows!
Home is still Denver (since 1973) - the mountains will draw you as will the ocean!
