Connie's Story
Life
After high school, I attended Hancock, worked at Columbia Records, and dated, all full-time and at the same time. I married in '73 and moved to Rosemead, CA. into a little house with a white picket fence. To escape being a housewife, I began working at Waldenbooks in downtown L.A. My entire paycheck went to paying for parking and books. I accepted an opportunity to work at UPS after my store manager turned it down. For 13 months I loaded boxes into 40-ft. trailers before opting for the job of UPS driver. I un-married in '83 and moved to an historical district in Long Beach. Our homes here were built by that big chewing gum company--though they DID use regular building materials. Through the years, I've pursued many interests including, but not limited to, jewelry-making, stained glass, scuba-diving, snow-skiing, and barbershop quartet singing. My travels have taken me to...Expand for more
Europe, Alaska, Tahiti, Mexico, and the Caribbean--so far.
I began a new chapter in my life upon my retirement from UPS in October 2005. Now I have the time to watch my nieces play softball, and my nephews play trumpet! I'm an active member of the Red Hat Society. I'm taking classes as diverse as ballroom dancing, sign language, and Pilates, learning things that have always fascinated me but that I'd not had the energy or the time to investigate. I feel like I skipped my second childhood and went straight to my second puberty!
My computer has become an invaluable communications tool. I can't believe I waited so long to go online, but I'm making up for lost time now! I love reconnecting with old friends and I look forward to hearing from all who have known me in my previous life. I hope Life has treated you at least as well as it has treated me. Let's catch up!
