Life doesn't always turn out the way we expect. After leaving High School, I traveled alot with my husband in the military. We spent many years on the East Coast in North Carolina and transferred to Southern California (love those palm trees!) where we lived for 25 years. We have celebrated 46 years of marriage and are still going strong! We have been blessed with 3 children and 6 grandchildren; Shannon, lives next door to us and has 4 children; Makenna, Ali'i, Mose and Ayden; Maleah, lives in California and has two children, my namesake, Alani Lou and Mateo Butler;. Kalili-Mateo, our only son is 26, single and lives about 30 minutes away. He works hard to help the family and is an awesome young man. I believe I have been a good parent but it sure helps to have great kids, which I have. They have taught me to "not sweat the small stuff" and to enjoy life.
