Constance's Story
Life
Happily married to husband Andy for 23 years, we moved in March of 2005 to his home town of Fayette, Mississippi near Natchez. It is a culture shock, but is a wonderful place to live and it is really fun to be part of a big family. I had been living in Southern California since 1978. I bought a house in Pittsburgh where I will visit during the summer and my son, Richard, 23, will live fulltime. Though a native Californian, Rich has wholeheartedly adopted Pittsburgh and loves it there. I have been a writer for over 30 years. A Washington Post reporter during Watergate, I went on to edit the religion section. Marriage to another "Post" toastie took me to LA where I learned political campaign management and went into corporate public relations. That marriage ended, but 24 years ago I met my soulmate and I've really been happy and fulfilled. My hobby is writing history books and articles. I'm lucky because I can afford to freelance and develop a new career as a popular historian. I'm working on a book called Pittsburgh Firsts to help celebrate Pittsburgh's 250th anniversary and a more ambitious research project called Pittsburgh without Pennsylvania explaining why West Virginia maps show almost a hand holding the corner of our state and why we cringe when someone mistakes us for Philiadelphians. nty of San Bernardino for 11 years counseling welfare to work was wonderful but I'm grateful that I got to retire and begin to live the next chapter. I get back to PA three or more times a year and see our old classmate Karen Eroline. She never married Rick Hoover, but I see him about once a year. He lives in Fresno and recently retired from that county. His doll of a wife is named Cathy. My old flame, Rick George, makes a fine living in Georgia retailing Camaro parts worldwide as Rick's 1st Generation of Athens, GA. He has a wonderful wife named Glo. We all still fantasize about moving back home one day, but I think we know it's just a fantasy. My phone number is 601-786-0254, cell is 601 870-4177: I was in Pgh on a research trip to Oakland in May and I'll be in town for the reunion from 10/3 to 10/17 I'll be staying at the Starlite Motel where I stayed with son Rich in '94 when he bonded with the 'burgh at 12 years old. My friend Julie Taylor is like a daughter to me and she is a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker, who had the listing on Jerome Bettis's house when I visited her in February. Check out my photo of me sitting on The Bus's weight bench in his house near North Park. That's a story all in itself. Call me. Or, leave a message at the Starlite beginning Oct. 3 if you are in town before the reunion and want to do something fun like play tourist or have dinner, or just ride around old familiar places. Snail mail is post office 1052 in Fayette, Mississippi 39069.
