Damon's Story
School
Like an idiot, I got married way too early after high school, but fortunately I got divorced right after that. I think I spent too much time having a good time and not paying enough attention to school. Oh, well! At least I did meet someone in school that I later married and had a family, and we're still happily together today.
College
After waiting until I was 30 to get my act together enough to go to college, I enrolled at Cuesta College. I decided to major in Electrical Engineering since I was already an electrician. Workplace
Right after high school, I went to work as an apprentice electrician. Four years later, I joined the union (IBEW) and became a journeyman electrician. I then traveled from town to town (including SLO) working on various industrial and commercial projects until I went back to school full time in 1996.
After graduating from Cal Poly in 2002, I landed a job with PG&E at Diablo Canyon as an Electrical Engineer. The workweek is 4-10's, and refueling outages help stimulate the home economy from time to time. Can't say I have it too bad!
