Corinne's Story

Life Hi! Thank you for finding me....I am in Florida, have an acting school, am active with local schools and theatres, unmarried. Would love to hear from you! Update: For those of you who don't know, I completed UB in '68, went to NYC and began working almost immediately as a professional actress. My first job took me to LA where I starred in HAiR and JC Superstar for years, then worked and studied with Lee Strasberg for 7 years. In 1980, Mom became ill in FL (where she had moved after Dad's passing in 1972), so I joined her there and cared for her until her passing in 1997. During that time I started Venue Theatre, my own acting school, and have had many succesful students such as Brittany Snow (American Dreams) and Mark Consuelos (All My Childred & married to Kelly Rippa). I am a member of the Actors Studio in NYC, and return each spring to study. I also direct plays, volunteer at schools, and work in the industry when I can as an actress, and have just opened a Casting Service, Golden Eyes Casting. Older, wiser, but would not have changed a thing. Hope you are all well. Hope to see you at a reunion again some day. College Now that you asked, I started out as an opera major at Fredonia State. After I realized that I could not do what I wanted to do (they wanted me to be a music teacher - hey not my bag) I went to UB and studied privately with a coach from Julliard. Once accepted, there was no $ to go, so I went into (of all things) Anthropology (still want to go on a dig in Egypt), In my Senior year at UB, I was cast in a play (goodbye Anthropology) and changed majors again. Was seen in class by a member of the Actor's Studio the next spring and inv...Expand for more
ited to NYC, where I was coached and began my professional career in 1968. After some success, I started studying with Lee Strasberg at the Actor's Studio in 1973 (through 1979). More professional success. Now have my own school teaching (heaven forbid). Fate is fickle. LOL Workplace Since leaving the University scene, I have continued to be a student of life and art. As a professional actress I traveled in and out of NY and LA for years, put my secretarial skills (thanks Mr & Mrs Garlapo) to good use to pay the bills when not performing. Interesting jobs included working for the attorneys for the Prestley divorce and the Mussel Shoals recording studios, as well as several production companies in LA AND as Executive Coordinator of the Professional Acting Program at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Los Angeles. Thanks to Lee, I learned how to be a good actor and coach, which led to me starting my own school in Florida, where I moved after my Mom became ill in 1980. Now one of the finest schools in the SW of Florida on the Gulf Coast, I work like a madwoman and enjoy every moment. I do miss performing but, at this age, who can remember all those lines? LOL. So, the focus is on the young and coming up actor in this area and my success is their success. This year (2003) we had over 150 actors pass through our doors, the serious ones work, the others dream. Nothing wrong with that. My best career memories to date inclue HAiR in the late 60's and early 70's, and being invited to direct in South Africa for their Millenium Celebration in Dec. 1999 - Jan. 2000. Look forward to traveling the world in search of lost civilizations and the exotic cultures.
