Cornelia's Story

Graduated S.F. High School Winter, 1969. At the time I was already working in a Law Office in S.F. I had worked there during my Senior Year. I continued to work there after graduation and started a Legal Secretarial Course at, I believe it was Pierce College. I found that I was wasting my time at Pierce, I wasn't learning anything new and I started working full time at the Law Office. Negri, Burrell, Risley and Schwartz. Still 18 I moved out on my own. I married at the age of 20 and we had 3 children together. All of them now in their 30's and living on their own. I spent 13 years at home raising my children and then divorced and went back to work. From 1985 until 2003 I worked for U.D. Registry Inc while raising my children on my own. I traveled to different courts for the company to abstract information out of court files. I loved the job and hanging around courthouses. The company was sold in 2003 to a larger company back East. Just to go back a little bit, 1998, U.D. Registry did send me to Washington State to expand the corp. I lived in Washington State until I moved back to California in 2002. Washington State was pretty exciting. Very lonely at first until I started getting to know people. It was a great experience. While living in Tacoma, Washington just outside of Seattle I received a call from the State of California. I have a grandson who was one year old and needed a place to live. I had to step up to the plate and he was delivered to me in Washington Oct, 2000 at 1 1/2 years old. I agreed to adopt him. Joey and I returned to California on May 1st, 2002 and the Final Adoption took place on May 2nd, 2002. We made our home in Santa Clarita for a short time and then settled in Lancaster, Ca - 2003 and have remained here ever since. Joey is now ten years old, just...Expand for more
completed the fourth grade and made it on the Prinicipal's Honor Roll List. I lucked out! I went back to work March, 2007 for a company that was contracted with Nasa for the Maintenance of the Facilities on Edwards Air Force Base. The salary wasn't all that great but the job was so much fun. July of 2007 I was lucky enough to see the Shuttle land there when the weather was bad in Florida. I worked in Admin dispatching maintenance for the entire Facility. I had never done anything like that before and I loved it. Unfortunately, I had to leave the job November of 2008 and I am still in between jobs. Joey and I are doing great and I am presently temporarily retired. I am not sure what I will be doing here in the near future but I have a few ideas. I also plan to go back to doing those things that I loved to do when I was without kids.............for a short time! For those of us who have raised children we know what a tough job it is and even more tough when you are older. Who knows what the future will bring but I try to keep in mind that life is too short,so I try to have as much fun as I can now and to do those things that I love to do and continue to follow my dreams, big or small! Some of the people that I would really like to hear from are: Wayne Arnett Art Moreno James Frachtling Candace Nolte Harvey Sneed Eleanor Portillo Roxanne Meyers Kathy Hazama Truett Joseph There are many more but with age comes loss of memory! I recently got in touch with Judy Durang. I will always remember Judy, she was quiet, a sweetheart, so cute and very nice. Also, I had a 30 year reunion with Russell Gonzales and remain in touch. The two people who were closest to me in my circle of friends and I have remained in touch with through the years is David Honda and Linda Reeves- Keddington.
