Craig's Story

Life Ok, where to begin. Yes I'm still alive. No, I did not die of a drug overdose as many who new me in high school may have summized. I actually went to college...Indiana University...how I found the grades I'm still not sure. Journalism of all things. Moved to the west coast in 1982...Seattle...and never returned but a couple of times. Turned North in 1984 and moved to Alaska for 8 years. Career of choice...professional fishing guide. Yes folks, I was a master baiter leading lower 48ers as we call them in Alaska into the wilds to fish for giant salmon and trout. Lots of bears I might add and stories to go with them. Flew all over Alaska and yes if there is one place left in your life to see, make it Alaska. Pristine wilderness at its best. Met my wife there, Miss Norway, on a fishing trip. Married 14 years with one daughter of equal beauty who is now 21 years old and still is an occasional pain in my...never mind. My wife however passed away 8 years ago and I have remained single since. Well there was this one 6 year fling but no more. Just me and the dog now. If I could find a woman who loves me unconditionally like my dog Sara then I would be the ha...Expand for more
ppiest man alive. I think the key word is unconditionally. But hey, hope springs eternal and maybe she is reading this now. Today I live in Boulder Colorado up in the mountains on a nice little trout infested stream. I have 4 regular resident Black Bears and countless deer. My favorite though is a red fox who likes to come inside my house for snacks. My daughter affectionately named him Boris. For the life of me I have no idea where that name came into play. I work in the city and look forward to home each day. Boulder is a unique little burb who likes to think of itself as "progressive." In truth, it is 40 square miles surrounded by reality. I still ask myself why am I still here? Oh yes, my daughter...citified...a towney. Oh well, I have property in Alaska and am building a nice cabin. It is on an island with 130 ft of saltwater frontage and some damn fine fishing right in front for salmon and halibut and all the crab you can catch. That is my escape. Anyway a brief look into my jaded look on life shaped by the adventures of someone who just goes out and "does it." Keep the sand moving between your toes because when you stop, life tends to bog you down.
